Should I or Shouldn't I ??
Hi guys, got a real dilemma on my hands, i'm in the process of buying a new property and it only has 1 allocated parking space outside, i have 2 cars, the ///M which i hardly use and lives in the garage and a 99 tdi astra which i use 99.9% of the time, the dilemma is when i move i really wouldn't want the ///M living outside and as i hardly use it i was thinking of selling both and been toying with the idea of a Seat Leon Cupra tdi 150 as an all rounder.
What to do? i would really miss my ///M but i never use it its not a financial as they both payed for more that i don't even take it out in the rain

Yeah thought about that, i once rented a garage just around the corner from my new place from the council to store my Karmann Ghia, but its well rough, not sure as if anyone saw me putting it in that it would be in one piece when i went back.whiteminks wrote:Can't you rent a garage somewhere Skinny?
We have exactly the same situation here, mate. We have 1 space each and about 3 visitors spaces between 12 of us, yet there are 2 second cars that are normally parked here. At the moment, two of my neighbours don't have cars, so their reserved spaces stand empty. I would suggest investigating whether any of your new neighbours are carless and if so offer to rent their space from them for a nominal fee. I certainly wouldn't think about selling your ///M just yet!

Not to sound harsh here but I don't get this "I hardly use it" thing with some ///M owners. You're not alone Skinny but it baffles me. It's only a car. Just drive it. It won't break (famous last words ). We use Heidis car ('98 Astra) when we need to move more stuff/people than the ///M can cope with but I use mine every day for work.
Sorry mate, but you need to get out there in the ///M more often then you wouldn't be having this debate with yourself.

I am with skinny - sort of. My ///M spends a lot of its time in the garage, and i am glad. Daily i drive a 1.9 laguna dti rt sport. Only cost me a couple of grand and I have been driving it for 18 months now. Since owning it, it has picked up knocks, scratches and scuffs on every corner and i can't claim responsibility for any of them. I would be gutted if ay of those "incidents" had happened to the ///M. Having a run-around comes in handy if you have to go to the supermarket, cinema, leaving in car parks etc.
Swings and roundabouts, so they say.

Well I suppose you are right. Whenever we need to go somewhere a little less "desirable" we'll use the Astra but I still maintain that they are there to be driven. As you say though it is a completely personal choice. Added to which I can't fit either car in our garage so they both live permanently on the drive in all weathers anyway.

a hard choice to make,i would keep the m,try to get a secure garage close by,remember you will be insured anyway,if something happens to the m
not keeping the m ,just because you dont use it much,is not an excuse either,my m only did 987 miles last year, but is garaged 24/7,in 5 years time ,oh how you would wished you had keeped it
