I have found a few posts from 2006 on replacing the bulbs in the instrument cluster but not on the way to get the centre console into peices.
On My 1998 Z3 coupe LHD 2.8
The lights behing the heater knobs (3) don't work.
The ones above an below are fine but these 3 circular units don't light up any more.
Any ideas.
And how does teh centre console safely come apart?

There are two ways to get at them without disassembling the whole centre console - either through the radio aperture or by removing a couple of screws from the side sections of the console and reaching up. The bulb replacement has been documented on here with pictures somewhere - if you have no look tracking the thread down, I will try and look for it later for you - I would hope it was in the knowledgebase somewhere.
