Air conditioning

Post by Desiro »

Does anyone know how much refregerant the M roadster air con holds?
I would like to fill it up with a can from Halfords but I think it's detrimental to have too much as well as too little.
Failing that I will just put the hood down':)

No idea of capacity, but if its totally empty then your wasting your money with a top-up can. THe new gas will just escape throguh the same hole the original stuff did.

The Halfrauds cans have a guage to let you know when its full, so you know how empty it was and don't overfill (if that's even possible with a can).

Thanks Si
I was just hoping it would be a case of topping up what had escaped through the seals etc. over time.
I have no idea if the system is empty or not but wanted a quick fix.
If necessary I will recover (and weigh), pressure test and tripple vac over winter but still need to know how much refrigerant to put in the system.

If pressure is just down a little over time then a Halfrauds top-up can will do the job.

Don't know if it's of any interest, but the KwikFit chain were doing a special offer on re-gassing air con units.
IIRC it was around the £40 mark.
I had may daily driver done last year and the difference in temperature reduction was approaching frost-bite :)

Take it back for a refund if your local Kwik Fit can keep your hands clean....

I found a sticker under the bonnet with the answer to my original question.
