something for the S54 owners to try

Post by offyourmarks »

Guys,

Have you tried to see if the throttle adaptation reset works on the MR with S54 engine?

For an E46 M3 and Z4 MC and MR the following procedure resets the ECU throttle response map. Over time the ECU learns your driving style and adapts accordingly. Over time the response can dulled

Sit in car and turn key to position II - wait for 10 secs

Turn key to position 0 and wait 10 secs

Turn key to position II and wait 10 secs then on to start up.

Go drive like an italian and the throttle response will be as sharp a butchers knife 8-)

Could that be coz your ///M was at the top of the 'Italian' scale already?

You could also disconnect the battery for a few hours. Same result.

I think it DOES work. It works on the 330 as well. I think it works on any fly-by-wire throttle.

It's supposed to reset the ECU to standard settings.

It may just be the placebo effect :D .

It does work on the 330, not the S54

Ive done it on both mine and the wife's car and it has made a noticeable difference on both in terms of throttle response :)
