On board computer on the mileage display (how to activate?)

Postby c_w » Fri 06 Jul, 2012 21:43

It's been a few years since I tried this but can anyone point me to a thread or link to unlock the on board computer info that can be displayed on the dash where the mileage/trip is? You can look at various settings and stats like digital RPM gauge, temps, fuel left, dial tests etc I just can't remember how it is done to unlock it! Thanks

Thanks Robert. Seems the E36 dash we have stops at 15! I had hope it would go up to 19 like the e46 to check 16 oil temp on my car against the analogue oil temp gauge!

I don't think we even have a digital oil temperature sensor. Is the ///M oil temp gauge not just purely analogue?

The gauge is analogue yes but like the analogue RPM you can access a digital version on the OBC showing the true figures, shame the oil temp is not recorded via the diagnostics like this on the E36 - it's just a direct feed from the oil temp sensor to the oil gauge.
