Z3 M insurance

Post by broad999 »

Hi Guys

bought a Z3 M a few weeks ago and had to rush to get insurance on it, the company I went with have now moved the goal posts....long story

Had a look around the forum and RH Insurance were mentioned, they have given me a great quote but will not insure my Mrs as she is 25 (lucky me hahah)
Footman James will not insure the car without it being Garaged which I do not have.

Can you guys recommend any other insurers you have used in the past.

Cheers Guys

I'm with LV at the moment, cheapest I could get.

Hi gazza
Had to take the Mrs off as she is under 30 but RH Insurance was £390 but I have zero NCB to put on this car as mine is all on my van, so I thought that was a really good price.
LV and Direct line would not insure due to zero NCB

I was going to say the answer was easy, you can meet 2 goals in one by simply not allowing your mrs to drive the car, win/win :D

sounds like a fantastic price with 0 NCB. I'll have to give them a try when mines up.

well I felt bad for all of about 3 seconds but I sure it will cost me in the long run, it's bound to be mentioned when she is about to buy a pair of shoes or a handbag.

The best thing with RH Classic Insurance is that they do not take into account any NCB hence you do not have to transfer or or give any evidence of previous NCB. :D

You may find that you have to have use of another car to be able to use the 0 NCB.

All my Classics are with RH.

Yes I think you are quiite right there thinking back to when I took the policy out but I did ask at the time and they said they didn't want any info on NCB as it wasn't aplicable which shocked me at the time.

I believe it's part of the criteria for insuring a car on a Classic or Cherished Policy.

Correct, there isn't a no claims bonus on classic car policies. Mine is guaranteed valuation and is just a flat premium.

I'm insured with Lockton, and they were fantastic when I set up my policy. A lot of the others either didn't consider the Z3 to be a classic, or insisted in it being garaged (hard without a garage to put it in). I'm paying £350/year for 5000 miles, a hell of a lot cheaper than a comparable non-classic policy. They also add as many named drivers at no extra charge too, I've got my dad and a couple of mates on mine just because I could. Worth a call perhaps :)

Edit: Just noticed this on their site "We can only provide quotes on vehicles with a minimum value of £10,000" which is clearly not true since my Z3 is valued at £3500 with them...
