Cracked rear screen

Post by z3mvert »

Hi. Just joined the site so looking for some advice.

Stupidly, someone has decided to lower the roof on my Z3M and I find the rear screen cracked!!!! :head: Obviously, I want a new one but has anyone fitted the 70 quid ebay ones? I'm pretty handy around a tool kit and understand it's fiddly but any good tips?

How do the roll bars remove for better access to the zip is another question?

Cheers in advance.

Welcome! If you check under the stock exchange, some here was selling an OEM zip in window last week...not sure if he shifted it yet. The roll bars are easy. they are held in place by locking bolts which are accessed through the 2 "pop out windows" in the turrets (where the safety belts come out of) and also from inside the storage box where you will find 2 more clip in windows - left and right. The bolts have torx heads, so you will need a set of those tools. You undo the locking bolts all the way, and then lift out the roll bars - have the roof down when you do the roll bar removal. You will also find a detailed description of replacing the rear window in the Z3 Knowledgebase...good luck.

Window replacement is not difficult with the roll bars still fitted. I did my 3.0 last year.

When you install the window make sure you zip it in clockwise so that the zipper will come off. If you go anti clockwise the window will still fit but the zipper will not come off.

Well after a frustrating couple of week when it's just been too cold and asking for trouble, the new screen is in!!!! :D

Starting the zip is a pig but once thats done, it's a peice of ****. Just need to put the sealing tape in and lip the riubber over the fabric ans she's a goodun. All ready for summer.

Hope you checked it for leaks

You will know if you have done a good job.

The zip won't open up when you have dropped the top a few times!
