Rule of thumb for M Roadsters...

Standard S50 = approx 305bhp

Standard S54 = approx 325bhp

Hmmm.

In the old days my S50 dynoed a lowly 300hp.

These days I have more and I do feel sorry for all you ///M owners with a measly 300-350hp. You have to rev the engine so high to get that it must be nearly bursting. You have to press the pedal down so far it must make your ankles ache. Poor you, poor you.

Last time is was at Evolve I saw a stock S50 make 323. That same day, my S54 made 324. Mine is stock apart from the Eisenmann race.

Stock the S50 is supposed to be 321 BTW

I think a trip to Evolve might be in order :D

I'd be up for that :D

Imran at Evolve told me 321 is unrealistic from a stock S50. Out of all they had dyno'd 305bhp was an average.

I have dyno read outs for mine from evolve.

Stock was 307bhp

Stage 2 ( exhaust, filter & map ) was 320bhp

Stage 3 ( added schrick 284 cams & map ) is 335.9bhp

Real gains are by supercharger, not much by remap.

Stock to Stage 3 on an S50 will set you back around 2-3k...

Biggest jump is stage 2-3

Schrick cams fitted and stage 3 mapping around £1650+

The differents in drivability is fantastic.. Instant throttle response and increased torque..

I've driven stock Z3m coupe and stock S50 roadster.. Compared to stage 3 they are sluggish.

I've seen a standard z3m at Santa pod and a stage 3, very little difference in times and performance.

Not worth that money Imho.

Depends on the car, my m isn't sluggish at all.

I you want big gains, drive a 911 turbo or Tvr cerbera.

Granted its not like adding a supercharger or turbo.. It's the drivability that changes.. Instant power.

Not that big, not for the sake of 3000.

Very little difference in every day driving. Might give a benefit if you put it on the track.

No.. I can honestly say the biggest difference IS on the road driving.. Not track or drag strip..

Increased Torque and instant throttle response makes a massive difference and a more enjoyable drive..

Not slating a stock S50 by any means.. Just stating the difference is Very noticeable and not a waist of money.

In a realistic world Stage 2 ( exhaust, filter & map ) makes a great driving S50..

this is a forum and everyone has different views.

i wouldn't spent that kind of money tuning a non turbo car.

real gains are made by remapping a turbo car, up to and above half the power again.

nothing wrong with the standard m car, set that way by bmw.
