A Nasty Rust Spot

Post by Boysie »

Hi
Recently after washing the car, I noticed under the body there are two rubbers that i assume are spacers for the bonnet, these are situated and rest near the hinges of the doors when the bonnet is closed.
well these rest on a plastic film on the body, evidently the rubber movement has worn the paint away and left a shiny/rusty round hole on the paintwork down to the metal, the size of twenty pence coin  .
i had to lift the plastic covering to notice this.
As you do, i contacted BMW dealer and they said the paint warranty had run out, i did expect that from them, not even a goodwill suggestion.
Has anybody experienced this problem, you need to be a bit of car cleaning nut though to notice it.
if so, how did you resolve it, just a touch up paint?

Ray
A Merry Xmas to all of you out there

I've notcied this too, the front rubbers should also have plastic circles to protect the paint but they invariably rub through or fall off. My coupe has 2 rusty circles where the rubbers sit, think I will just clean them up with t-cut and then put some waxoyl on them.
