As an owner I'm glad to see such a price :D , buyers may not be happy but its still a lot of car for your money.

It's all well and good owners asking stupid money for their cars, but will they sell them?

It's all about availability and demand + of course condition. A tatty S50 with high mileage no warranty and no service history sold by a private seller £10,000 would be a hope. But yes, an immaculate examle 16K warranty and service history from a dealer should be one hell of a lot more.

When I tell people what I would expect for mine some say (not all) "they can pick up a S50 up for ten grand". But I suggest it will not be like mine.

I agree to a point and I am sure your car is in better nick than mine. Mine does have 65k on the clock but has full BMW history and came from a TVR dealer with an insurance warranty all for £10k.

I wanted to buy a car as cheaply as possible so that when I come to sell in a years time I won't lose much money, if any. This worked when I purchased my Westfield which I sold for a decent profit

You are spot on there, the good price you paid should ensure you don't lose any money when you sell in a year.

Me on the other hand, I have had my car nearly three years and have no intentions of selling it (sorry guys), I believe a top example of the Mk will only depreciate so much so in time the lose will be come negligible. And I will have had many great adventures behind the wheel.

If I did intend to keep the car for a long period of time I'd certainly consider getting the same wheels as yours or the 19" BBS, they look fantastic.

I am trying to spend as little as possible on the car though other than to keep it in mechanically good condition. No cosmetic work as I won't be able to recover that outlay.

I definitely get my enjoyment out of it and am trying to take it out for a thrash a couple of evenings a week at the moment, so much so that I put 90quids worth of Optimax in last week. If I were in it for the long term then I'd look for a concours example, but I like to chop and change.

I like to think I could at least get a touch under £14k for mine,

31,000 miles on the clock, would need a couple of ikle jobs here and there, but I rekon I could definately get that sort of figure.

It would be a dream come true if I could, having only paid £14,750 in Nov '04.

Don't want to sell though :D

Hi

I must admit after seeing this car for sale
I felt good as mines a year younger with 22k
and in mint condition

I bought my //MR from this dealer four years ago
so i must have paid over the top £22500 with 12k

Do I care, I think it's fantastic car
