How hard is it to get hold of z4 sport seats?!!?
Hi all,
Been looking at various z4s now.... but it seems pretty tricky to find the "right" car with sports seats (which i feel is a must).... there isnt any on ebay..... was just wondering if any of you lot have had any luck sourcing them? and if so, are they rediculously expensive?! :S

Andy,
These guys do seats/interiors and servicing/breaking etc and may be able to advise if they can source them or have any in stock at the moment.

Good lads as well especially for servicing, really resonable and I believe all of them are ex "M" specialist mechnics.

It took me 4 months to get the right car with the Msport seats, but it is worth the wait. Changing seats on earlier models for later ones from a breakers is not that simple.
The passenger seat occupancy sensor mat is different on the 2006 onwards facelift models (where most of the breaker's MSport seats come from) and the airbag ECU sees seats from a newer model as a fault, which then puts the Airbag light on, and disables ALL airbags..until the fault is fixed.
People have retrofitted them and:
1 Either ignore the light, (Not good as all airbags are disabled).
2 Fit an occupancy bypass link (off eBay)which fools the ECU, to think that the passenger seat is always unoccupied, and prevents just the passenger airbag from deploying. (Not good for you passenger).
3 Fit a new seat mat which means taking the leather off the seat base. not for the faint hearted....
So thats why I waited for the right one to come along, even though there was no seat heating, but I had that retrofitted.

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

z4 sport seats
Interesting debate. It took me some time to find the z4 i wanted. i wanted a3.0si roadster eventually i found the right car. it is carbon black with many options including elecric memory m sport seats in bmw individual syrah blue. A great and unusual combination. it wasnt a need for me but i enquired to the supply dealer Dick Lovett at swindon prior to making the private purchase as to why for interest sake the seats were not heated as they had owned the car as a demonstrater. they told me that m sport seats in the individual range do not have heating as an option, this was subsequently confirmed by Vines of Guildford my local helpful dealership.I guess the problem always is that there are so many options available if you spec up as buying new that one has to wait for a happy compromise when buying used but then it also means we all have different cars through different option combinations.
Just viewed 2 Z4M Roadsters with individual seats....they were both heated.

z4 sport seats
I believe z3ms znd z4ms did have heated seats as factory spec. my car is not an m model its a z4 30s1 sport ie the uprated engine model so i suspect that makes yhe difference.?
heated seats were still a £245 option, even on the Z4M Roadster, according to pricelist with individual leather at £535.

z4 seat options
That is looking very good what is the exact model spec?
These were sold quite a while ago, they were facelift versions so occupancy sensor problems as above, unless you fitted to 2006 or newer model.johnjo wrote:Nothing to do with me but Ebay 260731797079 look like nice seats
