Z4 2.0 vs 2.2

Post by TAV »

Looking at getting a smaller engined Z4 fairly soon. (Selling Z3), probably with a reasonably high milage (80,000ish).

I have heard the 6 cylinders are bullet proof if serviced accordingly, but is the 2.0 as robust? It will be my everyday car,

Is the 2.0 a bit of a damp squib compared to the larger engines?

Cheers

The 2.0L is a six cylinder.

Robust? Mine did 28,778 trouble free miles last year.

I had no idea the 2.0 was a 6 cylinder.

Is 85,000 fully serviced going to be safe for a few years?

I only covered 10,000 miles in the last 4 years in my Z3.

Mine is now on 123,000-ish miles and still going strong.

Which still is not a high mileage, only 8785 miles per year (Mine's a 2000 model year). What's the average? 12,000 miles per year I think, so if mine had 168,000 then it would have still only done average miles for the year.

To me the condition and servicing are more important than the mileage. If we were talking about a French/Italian/British (eg MGTF) then I probably would think twice, but it's a BMW.

We are talking Z4 here? not Z3 right?

I thought the 2.0 Z4 was 4 cylinder?

Stupid me - I thought we were talking Z3 :dunce:

Same thoughts on the mileage though, regardless as to whether it is a Z3 or a Z4

Ok thanks.

Just wondered if a 4 cylinder will last as long as a 6.

I guess its the next gen engine from mine (8v 1.9) , which has done 82000 and running fine.
