Got quoted £224 Inc VAT for first oil service, is this competitive?

Thought I'd check seeing as I got fleeced for a tyre...

Sounds pricey! It may depend on model though. My 2.2iSE cost £167.70 including vat at Barons in Farnborough at the end of December.

£120 inc VAT? They must be charging nothing for labour...

Oh well, paid £190 all in, not too bad methinks..

I paid £150 for 3.0 first service. (Let's face it, the services seem to have less and less in them. Probably takes 1/2 an hour).

I have to agree with you there Chris. My first service was a 'while you wait' job at the dealers and, apart from changing the oil and a couple of filters, the only other work of any note was checking brake pad wear. The dealer said I should allow for an hours wait - 20mins for the service and the rest cleaning the car. The whole thing actually took about 50mins.

With less and less being done in the services I'm beginning to wonder if the 'stealer' stamped book is really worth it? Least you know it has been washed frequently! :?:

I seem to pay more for servicing/tyres than anyone else on this board, and I get it done in Stoke of all places, not exactly the most affluent area of the country!!

True Grubbins, they gave it a very good valet and polish, worth £20 itself...

There are other fluid changes which have to done every 2 years from date of manufacture - maybe these are being done at the same time, which would bump your price?

I was quoted £160 by my main Dealer for the first oil service, who then asked...how does that sound ?

Think I will be able to get a reduction on that price...
