Z8 for zed gathering

Post by JAY »

Anyone know of any Z8 owners that would be willing to come along and join in the social events on the 2nd april at Gaydon?

I almost have the full range of Zed's now. The Z8 would be the icing on the cake.

I've looked at the meberlist here but thare is a lack of activity from Z8 owners and no one with an e-mail I can get hold of.

Any suggestions out there guys???

Hey Jay....

I've been thinking about this, and the only place you'll find a reasonable number of Z8s in this country is Hexagon of Highgate. They normally have more than one in stock.

I guess it might be worth a very polite letter to their chief salesbloke to invite.... 'a representative and a Z8 to make a special guest star appearance at the largest gathering of BMW Z Roadsters in the country.'

They can be assured of excitement and interest from the country's most dedecated BMW roadster enthusiasts..... Perhaps you could even hint that there might be a few potential Z8 buyers attending?

I wonder if Gimlet or anyone high up in the BMWCC could send the invite on headed paper? I realise that our Gaydon meet is not an official BMWCC doo, but headed paper would give our invite even more clout.

I really wouldn't expect Hexagon to agree, but it's gotta be worth a letter.

Yes, a letter would do no harm. Having a Z8 present would be fabulous.

I just looked at the BMW AUC website.

Hexagon currently have 3 Z8s, all Titanium Silver, two with that incredibly audatious (but nice in a mad way) red and black interior, one all black, all priced at £65k - £70k.

Of course, those prices include the well-known 'Hex Factor'.

They are such YUMMY cars and would've been a smash hit if they'd have made a few RHD and adjusted the price a bit!

So Jay, does that mean we've got EVERY UK production Zed model in attendance except the Z8?
If so, that's really amazing.....

8-)

Do you reckon we'll get an ///MZ4?

All uk models except a 1.8 zed and the S50 & S54 coupe But I think were gunna get these too.

Also the very latest Z4 facelift models but I may be getting those too.

Only seem to have a few hardcore Z4 enthusiasts coming which is a shame we don't have anymore. I haven't had any response from my thread on z4um :(

how many engines went in the uk production Z1's??? ..... spokey ????

The Z4///M now that would be a nice treat wouldn't it ;)

The car club letterhead is almost certainly a no no as its not a car club event.
I have car club stationary but would only use it for events under the club banner as things like event insurance etc come into play and events being open to all BMWs not just Zs etc..
Sapphire black/Imola red and black interior/ red roof/ S54 - the only RHD one made.

The 'Hex factor' of which Alfie speaks really hacks me off.

Their cars are viciously overpriced, for no good reason and they take an age (if ever) to sell.

I'd love it if an representative from Hexagon decided to show his/her face. I for one would love 'chat' with them about market forces and supply/demand....

Phil, I'm surprised we're not trying to help out here under the Z register banner of the Car Club? What harm could it do the event of the Z register? Something to put in the club mag with a unique line up - surely worthy of the registers support?

Jay, the Z1 only had the 2.5 motor!

I doubt you'll get an RLE there. I don't think I've heard of one in the UK. :(

Giles, you have to remember their location. They are situated opposite the end of the second richest road in the country, The Bishops Avenue. People drive out of their mansions and spot a cute little car in a nice colour on Hexagon's forecourt. They pop in as they're passing, rattle a bit of loose change and drive away in an £80k ///M6.
Market forces? Exactly.

Anyway, let's be really nice to Hexagon coz we might need their favours sometime, ok?????

That's such a shame!

But what better way to celebrate your wedding anniversary than a trip down south in a beautiful car? How COULD she say no???

Congrats anyway John and Mrs!

Use the Search button before posting newbie questions about hard tops and fitting kits, footwell speaker amps, water in the boot, hood maintainance and those horrific angel eyes. We get like 10 threads a week on the same subject, it's obvious that you haven't searched.
