Autoglym roof cleaner without a hose...
I've bought the Autoglym roof cleaner and protector kit, and the roof really needs cleaning, but I don't have access to a hose to use. The kit instructions say to use one, and a friend who's used it says you really need one to get the best clean, so does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative way of using the kit to it's full effectiveness without being able to hose it down?

I guess use a watering can lol, but a hose is ideal if only to wash any overspray of the proofer if it gets on the glass or bodywork as its a pig to remove if allowed to dry. If using a watering can then make sure you thoroughly wet the hood, use the cleaner and the agitating sponger then I guess 50 watering can to swill the hood offVikingSven wrote:I've bought the Autoglym roof cleaner and protector kit, and the roof really needs cleaning, but I don't have access to a hose to use. You could always pop to your local petrol station and use a jet wash?
The extra power (not too close) really gets all the crap off first and helps rinsing it off. Also I use a silicone water blade to assit the roof in drying, also get rid of any excess foam.
Another good trick is to put the proofer on with a paint brush. The spay bottle has a habbit of atomising the proofer and it goes all over the paint/glass. It a bugger to get off!!!
Good luck

Hi,
I used the autoglym kit and a watering can. Yes it was a complete ball ache as it took about 25-30 trips to the kitchen sink. Just needed a little perseverence and it worked fine.
It would have been far easier with a hose - no doubts there...
I also got a sarcastic comment from a passing plod asking if I was planting grass seed on the roof

I've used a soft brush to scrub soapy water in to get the worst of the muck out but will be a pain to get all the suds out without a jet washing though.

I thought about it but decided just to get the proofer. The hood on mine is pretty much like new so thought it not worth it. I tend to shampoo the hood at every wash and then hoover whilst damp so it never really gets too dirty. The Autoglym has lasted well at 2 years but has virtually worn off now. I'm hoping the Renevo will be as good
