Paint Correction Detail

Post by Dickyt »

I have just had a Light Correction detail done on my Z3 3.0i, and I am slightly pleased with the results to say the least. I had the work done by someone recommended on the Detailing World website - having seen some of his work posted on the site I was sure that he could improve on my somewhat tired / scratched / tarnished 10 year old paintwork. Not from me mind you, I think the previous owner cleaned the car with a brillo pad & I inherited a multitude of scratches & swirl marks. After 2 years of owning it, I finally got round to doing something about it.

The results are amazing, with probably 95% of imperfections gone. With being Sapphire Black Metallic it shows every mark, but now it looks stunning with incredible depth & gloss, and the metallic flakes really "pop" out. He put 15 man hours into it, and surprisingly the paint was quite "soft" which is unusual for a BMW.

You can see the write up on detailingworld.co.uk, click on "forum Home", then scroll down to "The Studio" in the gallery section, then scroll down onto "light correction detail - BMW Z3 3.0i Roadster - Swissvax Best of Show!!"

Stunned with the results - it's like a new car!

Yes that's correct. Russell at Midlands Car Care, he is a great guy. He only works weekends, as believe it or not holds down a full time job and has got into the detailing after doing it as a hobby for years. Check out all his write ups on detailing world to see his incredible work - at pretty decent prices as wel, very affordable.
I know he is very much in demand, and is booked up until August, I was lucky to get a cancellation. A full day's work/light correction detail would cost £180 - £200 depending what you want.
He would normally do the hood, interior, wheels etc. but as I was not too bothered about these, as I can do them myself, I asked him to just concentrate on the paint correction.
He has a small unit in Walsall, west mids and likes you to bring the car to him as he can't work his magic on a mobile basis. Dropped the car off saturday afternoon, picked it up Sunday evevning. Ok for me as it's not my daily drive. I can certainly recommend his work.
There are plenty of other detailing companies listed on detailing world, listed for specific area's of the uk. It's a great site to look up write ups of potential companies work.

Just had a read of the DW thread as well. Looks like it's really brought your Z3 to a lovely shine. Funny how your paint is soft as mine (2001/Y reg) is really hard and I've had to go to coarser polishes and harder pads on mine. Had he been a bit closer I'd be tempted to get mine done as I'd thought it was much more expensive than that. I do quite enjoy the polishing though, just hope it'll turn out as nice as yours. :)
