Hi All. I did a really stupid thing last week by closing my bonnet when I had left a torch on top of the suspension turret resulting in this rather nasty dent.
It was actually a raised dent but I foolishly convinced myself that I could tap it down with a rubber mallet resulting in a sunken dent with a raised dent in the middle.
My local bodyshop informed me that this is worst kind of dent and would not come out it would have to be filled and the whole bonnet resprayed.
Fortunately a friend recommended a guy called Dan Tranter from All Out Dents based in York who came this morning and worked his magic. This is the result.
Needless to say Dan is the man and I would highly recommend him. He even polished out a couple of scratches while he was at it just to demonstrate how good his polish is. All is well with the Zed
Dent in bonnet
Re: Dent in bonnet
Nice job - some of these dent removal experts and firms like Chips Away are very good - I would always use them first for smaller jobs. I'm afraid I've lost confidence in a lot of "body shops" where they typically want to charge a fortune and to re-spray half the car.
Re: Dent in bonnet
Nice result, and a big saving I would imagine

Re: Dent in bonnet
It amazes me
Before we all rushed to the body shop
"Sorry Sir its total respary of the bonnet"How much" Been there
On my first Zed i had a dent right in the middle of the bonnet, kids throwing rocks, picked the wrong car park
I contacted my insurance as the paint shop wanted to repray complete bonnet
Amazingly the insurance paid for a "new bonnet and a repray" something about the rust warranty?

I would take the car back to them and ask why they couldn't do it?

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..
Re: Dent in bonnet
Hi Snoops. Dan covers Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Castleford, Selby, Wetherby and anywhere in-between and I think he is a one man band.
He does a lot of work for BMW and Jaguar dealerships in the area.
He charged me £70 including VAT to remove the dent from my bonnet which is about the going rate for all the PDR specialists. I have used Dent Devils in the past who were also very good.
Hi Gookah. I know exactly why the bodyshop said that they couldn't do it. Money Money Money. The guy who looked at the car went on to say that once the dent had been filled the whole bonnet would have to be resprayed and I might aswell have the front bumper done at the same time and to ensure a perfect colour match he would have to spray both doors and then blend it into the rear arches. So from a £70 dent removal we were then talking a £1000 respray. At that point I looked in the mirror just to make sure that my missus hadn't written MUG on my forehead.
All the idiot has achieved is to ensure that he will never get my custom.
