If you need a new rear screen fitting.......

Post by GROMMIT »

I fear the cold weather is coming and in case anyone has the misfortune to split their rear screen like I did a bit ago, I had mine replaced by a firm called soft-tops in Crystal Palace. The guy charged me £175 and it was done in an hour. He did a superb job and I would reccommend him.

It makes me laugh, BMW quoted me £300 all in. £115 and £175 for labour! They told me it would take 2 engineers 2 hours to complete so you can imagine my surprise when this guy phoned me back within the hour to say it was job done. Plus he was working on his own and did a quality job. This sort of brings me on to a problem I have on the horizon.
My car has 1 green light on so it's service time soon. My car has done nearly 42000 miles so not sure what this service will entail. I phoned BMW up before I purchased the car to check prices etc and they said inspection 2 should have been done at 38000 I think? They also told me that every service after would cost around £160 all in.
Having purchased the car and lookig in the service book, it has had both the inspection boxes ticked and nothing in the inspection 2 box. Could this just be an error or do I need to worry as I know inspection 2 can be pricey. Someone please help as I am a bit confused!!!! Do I then stick with BMW or check out an independant specialist???
Any feedback would be very much appreciated by myself and my wallet!!!
