......... Maybe they need some colour work to tone down all that silver.... maybe the spokes need to be a dark grey or cosmo metallic black ??

Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
I like the shine - hate the wheels
Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
One of the most desirable classic rims for BMW and harder to get than standard BBS (and MUCH easier to wash ). Originally they were fitted on AC Schnitzer S3 sport 2.5 car and these rims are no longer available from AC Schnitzer or manufacturers (OZ Racing and Ronal). Check more pics on different cars here:
http://www.drive2.ru/l/403005/
Got them for my car (painted spokes matte black). People are saying that there are two things which makes my car stand out and look realy great: ACS rims and ACS roll hoops. Only it's hard to find rims with correct offsets for z3.
What was the price for OP wheels? Usually they are about 1500 - 2000 Eur in such condition.

Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
They look pretty good on the car... If I do go for them, I think I'd be tempted to paint the area including the rim bolts, and leave just the 1st step silver... I'll have to play around with my photoshop and try a few combinations...

Maybe you will be more interested in AC Schnitzer 18 type 1 3pcs or AC Schnitzer 17 type 2 3pcs. Check pics in the link I posted before and also here:

Nope don't like them either - I just don't like (or get the obsession with) ACS, but each to their own.deni2s wrote:Maybe you will be more interested in AC Schnitzer 18 type 1 3pcs or AC Schnitzer 17 type 2 3pcs. Check pics in the link I posted before and also here:

strangely it was neither the tyres or the hoops drew my eyedeni2s wrote:People are saying that there are two things which makes my car stand out and look realy great: ACS rims and ACS roll hoops. Only it's hard to find rims with correct offsets for z3.
Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
They look fabulous and wouldn't mind a set of these on mine, definitely a classic perfect match for the Z3. Depending on the price I wouldn't hesitate. The largest wheels BMW made for the Z3 were 17s so don't look too out of place. The problem I found with ACS alloys if going for the 18s is the fronts are 8.5" width and found depending on the tyre for which I had a slightly stretched 235 the Zed could tramline quite bad at times which spoilt the drive. As soon as I changed to 8" width all tramlining disappeared.
I certainly wouldn't go painting the centres black.

These wheels are going for £.340.00 incl VAT for a set of 4
Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
They would be over 1K here in the UK fully refurbished for genuine wheels, they must be copies at that price otherwise I would bite the sellers hand off as thats an absolute bargain.Southernboy wrote:These wheels are going for £.340.00 incl VAT for a set of 4
What offset are they? do they ship to the UK lol.

Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
I know they aren't "genuine ACS".... but that's not a trainsmash to me... I have an idea they may be from places east... But as long as they are round and not oval and have passed the standards tests for safety etc, the price makes them attractive. They're 8J / 9J...

Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
.... yep... that looks better with the bolt area of the rim being painted too vs just the spokes.... looks very good !
Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
That is the design difference between type 1 and type 2. On both only center piece is painted fully.Southernboy wrote:.... yep... that looks better with the bolt area of the rim being painted too vs just the spokes.... looks very good !

Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
If you are referring to a girl (I now the car in the pic is a little out of focus) then that is not very funny joke to say that. If she would heard that, she would kick your ass as she is quite independent and she will not allow that someone thinks that she can belong to anyone or that she is compared to a car. Actually she is quite cool girl and we are good friends despite some age difference.
Regarding the wheels I heard a lot of horrible stories about safety and quality of replicas. But the price difference is really big and by driving the car we are already exposing ourselves to some risk, so it's your choice how much risk you are ready to take. I took the risk to drive without the airbag (installed smaller sports steering wheel), still not sure how comfortable I feel about it (I believe I will not feel very comfortable in case of some accident), but I hope to get better steering wheel soon with an airbag.

Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
All wheels here are required to be tested by the SA Bureau of Standards... perhaps I should stop here... I've seen some of the stuff they pass as "Approved"... anyhow... they test things like wheels before permitting the sale to te public... so if one survives the related accident, they can be sued for "Approving" the product as safe. Considering the type of driving I do... I'm fairly certain they will be safe enough for me.... I try to stay under 120mph.... especially with the roof down... it doesn't flatter my looks at my age...

Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
For me the standard silver finish is perfect, as a second choice the darker silver/grey. The black just does not do it for me but it's what floats your own boat really.

Love the roll hoops, are they easy to fit?
Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
Not bad for sure. Will you paint the bolts too?Southernboy wrote:..... so, I sort of got some colour into the pic... comments ..??

Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
If I do these wheels at all, I think the bolts will be painted too... It's essentially a 3 step rim... and All I would want tin silver is the section which is over the edge of the tyre, and the first rim face plus the next section up again... the rest I think can be coloured in... I'll have to have a look if / when I get them... I'm not 100% convinced about them yet and looking at alternatives in 18 inch size too.... but those are so "common" in their design / appearance being either original BMW or replica BMW style wheels... the 5 spoke configuration.... yawn...
Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
I am not very exited about other wheels too. IMHO 5 spoke wheels looks best with Z3. BBS are quite popular around on BMW, but it's hard to wash them (check this car http://www.drive2.ru/r/bmw/288230376152022676/ ). Maybe work meister s1 ( http://www.workwheelsusa.com/gallery-ph ... 3&photo=38 ) or oz futura ( http://www.felgen-garage.de/Showcars/Teemuu.html ) would be my second choice, but ACS are still the best. Only that 3pcs wheels weight more than one piece, but the looks compensates that.
There are few iphone/ipad apps where you can "test fit" different wheels on image of your car, I used these apps to get some idea how each style looks on z3.

Re: 17 INCH SCHNITZER (STYLE)rims ??
....... hahahaha... just seen a set of these ACS "replicas" for sale on eBay UK....... asking £1750.00 for a set of 4..... and then a little further down the page...a Genuine set asking £.1100.00
Found a set of 17 inch replica OZ Futuras here... £.270.00...
But also found a set of Genuine 18 inch ACS Type 3's for sale.... meeting with the seller on sunday... asking £.460.00 ... They'll need restoration as they're in a matt black colour at the moment...and new tyres... so this could be an expensive weekend !
