My weekend . Bealach Na Ba (New Pics)
Boys weekend Up the west coast of Scotland to play on the Bealach Na Ba pass.
Route up the A9 to Dalwinnie and head towards Spean Bridge.
First stop Loch Laggan
At Spean Bridge north on the A82 . Loch Lochy and my shirt
Turn left heading west on the A87 towards Kyle of Lochalsh but going to Plockton for lunch
Shop from "Hamish McBeth"
View from near to shop
Nice wee road north out of Plockton
Passed Hotel at Lochcarron and up to the Pass
View back down Bealach Na Ba
Traction control off for the twisty bits
Nice View at the top ... and Skye in the background
Turn left at Applecross round the coast road to Shieldaig
Back to LochCarron and repeat till time to go home... Favourite road sign
Just checking
The A890 between Strome Ferry and Auchtertyre, a fantastic collection of constant radius corners
Eilan Donan Castle... why stop when you are enjoying yourself
the A9
the Forth Bridges
In the middle of an industrial estate in Rosyth
Nice weekend and although the Bealach Na Ba was the target I was amazed by how many fun roads we drove/smiled over.. try it some time.

These are truly beautiful roads and well worth driving, thanks muppet for the excellent photos and route description.
It's just worth remembering for anyone who's not used to them that they are mainly scenic drives, especially in summer, often with cyclists and walkers crossing at blind bends etc.
It doesn't detract from the enjoyment to ease up a bit and see the views and wildlife at it's best. Having said that, there are parts of the route where visibility allows you to open up end enjoy but they can be difficult roads having been under snow and ice for a good part of the winter with loose gravel on bends and the odd quite deep pothole here and there.
Best to enjoy the scenery rather than become part of it.

There are a few nice roads around Edinburgh the A701 beats the motorway on the way north to there.
I washed the car before I left but the air is so much clearer up that way that the car did not get dirty(other than brake dust on the alloys). the rain even clean the car.
Kruisin , the cyclists had just stopped , I just walked over and pushed them
DC you are right about things on the road, loads of motor cycles, a few cyclists and all sorts of animals( even saw goats sleeping at the side of one road) so I was very slow on the blind bits and wary on the bits with visibility, Still managed to enjoy some great roads. Some were not so fortunate, less than an hours after I had passed there was an accident on the A82 north of Spean Bridge sending 5 to hospital and killing one.
As I said to my mate (when I was driving) "you are a very long way from an ambulance up here", keep that in mind and a sensible head is kept.

Not such a nice road in March...... Glad the snowplough was there
Snowplough doing 3 point turn to get round one of the hairpin bends
On the other hand the roads were quite, 24 miles of single track road and did not meet another vehicle..

Isn't it rather cheating to send one's personal snow plough off in front so one can have a little jolly?
Trust you had the roof down
