well this is how it started out,
M Sports seats were a must
as was the Multi-functional steering wheel, and the best looking Z4 alloys in my opinion.

1st job was the angel eye install,
and to take the headlights out, the front end has to be removed
A lot more complicated than on a Z3, because the oven method does not work.
Putting these in an oven will soften the casing before the sealant, I tried!!
So there was only one way, ...the Dremel
Yes they have to be cut open,....
.
Fit the new rings and test...
a good helping of Tigerseal
and put them back together,
Now rebuilt, and well....I like them
..

| Why did you not remove the amber when you had the lights open though?

| I did, but the quality of the chrome behind was poor, so the ambers went back on again.

The z4 is looking fab gookah. I meant to catch up with you at Tatton to compliment you on your work. Yours is the first z4 I've seen that's made me think I might like to own one some day - the stance and wheels are perfect IMO. Great colour combo too.

Cheers Red, I just wanted it to be a bit more 'individual' than the standard.
Even this Toledo blue is a bit rarer than the usual light blue, greys, silvers and blacks.
White headlamps lenses are next, I have the parts ready

Yep looks sooooo mcuh better lowered, stance is perfect now IMHO
Not sure about a "sound generator" though, I tend to use the accelerator pedal for that

Yes ...... and when I do .....wow, like an induction kit but without the oily MAF problems. More like a 'grin' generator.

Was going to hijack jonttt thread but thought id post here. Theres a pic of your car from the back at one of the recent meets and i gotta say, looks very nice.
So be honest, how u finding the z4 and do you prefere it to the 3?
I am thinking of going for a z4 then maybe going for another more powerful z3 later on.
Still in 2 minds tho.

Well, I think they are two different cars entirely,
I find that the Z4 is more refined than the Z3 was, but then again that means it loses some of the raw fun element, however you can still chuck it into bends (and probably faster too).
When I sit in my son's Z3 I still compare, and the Z3 now shows its age, with things like the trim, light switch etc. but the Z4 can appear bland inside too.
I like some angles of the two cars better than each other, in fact I didn't like the Z4 shape at all when it first came out, but now I love it..
Its nice to have things like a glass rear window, and no clamps on the roof, multifunction steering wheel etc, all mod cons now and as a gadget freak, that appeals too.
One thing I have noticed though is that the owners of the Z3's seem to be more of 'enthusiasts', more meets etc.
How many Z4 posters are there on here, even though there are a good number of Z4 members.. very few, even considering that the zroadster.net emblem is a Z4.
I am a member of Z4_forum and that seems to have a lot less activity than this one,
I do miss going to meets and not having a Z3 to take, seems strange usually being the only Z4 there. But that shows I guess the level of Z4 owners enthusiasm.. Maybe the car is too new to generate this level and not seen as 'classic' enough yet.
Finally, I have given up waving to Z4 drivers because there is rarely a response, but if I still wave to a Z3 driver, I get a wave back.
But do I regret changing .......?
....no

Thx for the reply. I did notice yours is pretty much the only one with a progress page on the z4 which is a shame. Im the same, I love the sides and back of the 4 but love the front and classic look and feel to the 3. Then there the width of the 4 wich i prefere and the newer engine.... If i can get one close to 7k, i might take the plunge. Very hard to put a price on a modded 3 tho.
Quick question, do u need to buy a fitting kit for the hard top for the z4 like the z3?

Fitting kit not required on the Z4, they are all hardtop ready from the factory, I do think they should have kept a version of the side vents/gills though, I notice it has re-appeared on the new shape Z4.
