...well its different for sure...the purists may go apoplectic but it’s certainly unique and I suspect we all have a secret yearning to be different enough but the key question in this case will be ‘is this enough or too much?’...perhaps the owner is ‘vertically challenged’ such that excess wind in the face doesn’t happen or drives so slowly that it’s not an issue? I’d be scraping insects off my teeth after every trip with that windscreen...I admire the intent if not the outcome...now time to step aside for wails of derisive laughter...

Perhaps the owner is only as tall as the trophy

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

My last kit car didn't have a windscreen, just aeroscreens, and you'd be surprised how effective they can be in deflecting air above your face. Not much good at deflecting stones though, so following cars with sticky tyres can be a bit dangerous.

However, as a weight saving measure on a 450kg car I think it's acceptable. On a car that weighs as much as a Z3 and done purely as a styling exercise - not a fan myself.

So much time and effort to customise what was a perfectly good car
I agree it is unique but not to my taste and useless unless wall to wall sunshine is guaranteed. Not much good in the UK then :!:

Shame the attention to detail didn't create level exhaust pipes......

I like the unusual look but the screen is just stupid!

On the other hand I love the crease free join on the side/shark fin grilles, looks great

Screen

Post by Mike Fishwick »

The screen - and its frame - is also a major source of body rigidity, but I doubt if such minor details matter to the type of person who thinks that this poor car looks 'cool' etc! They probably seldom drive it anyway, and never round corners at any speed. Concours and drag meetings only . . .

I think it takes all types of people and the fact that it's a Z should give them the right to be here!

Totally agree with you, people on here are really blinkered, anybody who is into cars would know that "chopping" is a big scene in the States. These are show cars, you don't go shopping to Tesco's in them.

Forget what it was an accept it for what is is now.....a nice looking car I'd say.
What he has done to it is no worse than wrapping it in matt black fablon - in fact I would prefer this mod any day!

That's Doughboy's zed from Bimmerforums. I think it's good as a show car but obviously no good as a daily driver in the UK :roflmao:

Not keen on the front grill removal but apart from that it's all good IMO. It's even got a trailer hitch http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh ... ?t=1006513
