Have had my fair share of classics, but have slowed down now I have found what I like (so far that is).
First car was a 1952 Sunbeam Talbot, 2nd was a Morris 8 convertible after I gave the Sunbeam to Dad. Kept most of the cars at least a year or so to get to know them properly and still have one or two now.
I do feel sorry for our younger enthusiasts because interesting cars are now so expensive compared to the old bangers we used to find.
Her is a list of those I can remember.
1- 1936 DKW Motorcycle
2- 1952 Sunbeam Talbot
3- 1954 Sunbeam Talbot Mk 11

Mini Mayfair - Black 998cc C723 XTP ( I loved that car! )
then
Ford Fiesta MK4 - Silver 1250cc S496 AHC ( I loved that car too, did some miles at Uni and my 1st job )
then
Proton Personna Auto - can't remember any details I hated that car, I only bought it as I needed an auto having torn the tendons in my hand!
then
My beautiful Z3 Coupe - Hellrot Red, Black Z3M alloys, DVD player etc etc. and impatiently waiting to get her back from the front end re-spray!
I feel that I have to get another few cars to catch you lot up!

A 1967 Triumph Spitfire. Purchased in 1976. It was red with a fibreglass fastback hardtop permanenty fitted. But was also pretty rusty. Spent about three months "doing it up". Remember using a quantity of metal mesh and "plastic padding" and had it resprayed Triumph "Maple Brown" - then had to work the entire body up to a shine all over with T Cut. Had all the chromework renewed. Looked a real treat when finished and really enjoyed driving it. Never "done up" a car since!
Thanks Motco, MickJ, Silly young dick I was. I owned the car for two years and then bought a Riley. I only found out last year that the XK was the only Abbot bodied XK120 ever built. It was slightly longer with a small +2 type of seat behind the two front seats. It has been fully restored at great expense in New Zealand and sold to a museum in Germany. I think it is for sale at present as they are culling the collection. Probably worth megabucks now. I guess we have all had cars we wish we had kept.MickJ wrote:Jag XK120 very nice! my dream XK was the 150, the old man had one, bright red lovely car, remember him taking me down the M1 (pre speed limit) in what was the new E-Type 3.8 at a 100+ they were the days.

My first car was a 1966 MG Midget 1098cc registered LYO 793D. It was finished in Tartan Red with black interior, black hood and painted wire wheels.
I purchased it for £250.00 and spent a few months getting it ready for use once I had passed my test. I remember it cost me £225.00 to insure.
Great fun until 18 months down the line it was written off when hit from behind at a set of traffic lights

My first car was a 1963 Morris 1100 in yellow, DMM205A. Bought it from my Dad for £85, can't remember was the insurance cost was. Got my first Z Roadster (2.2 Sport Auto) about 4 years ago but stupidly traded it for a 330CI convertible , then common sense kicked in and I bought the M about 15 months ago
