I assume you bought yet an other Z1 to violate and dismember.
But I have to say I can't wait to see the end result of this transformation.
Cheers for sharing this info,
HH
Yes I am about to violate yet another precious Z
The size difference is amazing.

Now that is AWESOME!Robert T wrote:How about this one for your next project, Senna?
That's a 46.5 litre BMW aero-engine.
Good luck with the V12 - I bet that will sound awesome.
Cheers R.
Once Apollo stops his moaning I will get on with the V12

Will this project also fall into your "Top Secret" category? You clearly have some interesting concepts that stir the imagination, its a shame you choose not to allow your fellow enthusiasts a glimpse, apart from a chosen few. Would have been interested to see your Z1M or V8 project, I find that more appealing. is there a purpose to this, or just prove it can be done? A V12 in a Z1 just seems .....overkill, something you do for drag racing perhaps?
But thats coming from a bloke who knows nothing about mechanical automotive engineering mind you.

Hoping to finish a V10 soon.pingu wrote:The mere mention of Apollo and Senna in a big engine thread gets me thinking .
Could a Z1 take 1.5 million horsepower?
Senna's next power plant?...
BTW, really looking forward to the V12
Really want to put an F1 engine in one...... honestly

I would love to give all the ideas out but we would end up with clones wouldn't we

Surely the cynical could say the same about you? Your not the first to put an M3/M5 engine in a Z1 (or Hartge wheels for that matter )senna wrote:Oh Jamal.....Jetski wrote:Will this project also fall into your "Top Secret" category? Lighten up Chris, what you need is a spliff.
I think personally think Erwin’s conversion will be adequate for most who want a big engine and I’m sure he will fully document for fellow members ever wanting to do the conversion!Jetski wrote:Will this project also fall into your "Top Secret" category? Now when we going to see something like a RHD conversion for a change?
Guys, no need to smoke much if we can get a kick out of an ingenious enginge conversion. Besides, smoking would only slow us down or at least slow down the perceived speed.
V12: if you have a convincing concept about how it can be done... But I fear the car would be undrivable, not least because nothing has been designed for...
... isn't the chassis too wabbly, the entire setup too light-weight, an increase in weight and stabilisation necessary all around?
Would be cool to hear what you think, how you solved the issues in the M or V10 conversions and what you plan this time round.

I have no idea yet just that I want to use the shells I have lying around for something, and the V12 was given to memika_bxl wrote:Guys, no need to smoke much if we can get a kick out of an ingenious enginge conversion. The Z1 works well with well with an S62 as all the other people that have done it before will testify.

I can't see there being any major issues with either the V10 or the V12 (or the V8) despite it not being done before I am sure it is easy enough.
Time is the biggest issue
My main aim is to make a "track hack" nothing refined, with a roll cage, side exhausts, alloy dash.
But you never know... It may end up as a spotless OEM example.

Re: V12 Z1 !!!!
Hi,
I'd like to swap my powertrain (engine + gearbox) by a newest one with Motorsport engine + automatic gearbox.
Please someone could help me on this project.
Please don't talk about SMG gearbox, that is the worth ever gearbox !!
There is the DKG gearbox with dual clutch transmission.
Many Thanks

Re: V12 Z1 !!!!
Nothing wrong with SMG, I have one in my M3 CSL, I agree it is old technology but so is the Z1

Re: V12 Z1 !!!!
Hi,
I think you're right, because the size of SMG gearbox is quite good, but also it is an old technology !!
But to be acceptable, the shifting must be made without any interruption in torque and no jolting !!
And on your M3 CSL with SMG II, you are a lucky man, because you don't have the first version of SMG, fortunately for you !!...
No I think we can fit on another gearbox more efficient and with the latest technologies, I hope so...

Re: V12 Z1 !!!!
Hi everyone,
Regarding Z1 "M" powered by automatic gearbox, a thing is true, I am not to do anything just by myself, I need of your help (members) !!
Many thanks for your answers.
But unfortunately, I think the members like "Senna" or "Appollo" who have fitted on their own Z1 some M3, V8 or V12, they are not too active on the website !!
I sent some messages but any answer, but they have all of skills, knowledges and background....
So I keep asking them, but I think I should postpone my big project maybe...
PS :
I changed my cellphone a long time ago, so I lost the Senna's phone number !!
Bye Guys
