Yes I have but as they are only on for winter I'd rather spend the money elsewhere on something that benefits the car all year round, there is loads of other things I want doing so haven't really got them at the top of the list. Although they do sit very far in the arches and it would look a lot better with some fitted.myredzed wrote:Looks great lowered with the LMs Have you considered some spacers for the rears with your winter wheels?

The list of planned mods is getting shorter and shorter now and the latest two have been fitted.
I wasn't originally going to get ///M mirrors but as my standard ones have seen better days and the bases need refurbishment I thought I would take the plunge.
Got them all sprayed up and fitted but having read about the poor visibility out of the flat mirror I thought I'd fit it anyway on the passenger side. It was so bad and I was struggling to see out of it when reversing into the garage so I purchased a new convex one. After smashing the first one and then breaking the original mirror trying to remove it today I finally have a new convex one in place at the third attempt
The mirrors look fantastic, didn't think they would make much of a difference at first but I love them now and I am pleased I did the mod.
Next up one which has bugged me ever since buying the car! I really didn't like the rear clusters all because the indicator lenses were not clear, stupid I know but I thought the car looked a little dated from the rear. I purchased a new set from Germany, not cheap but they were here within two days and I am very pleased with the car now being completely de-tangoed. I'm still contemplating whether to go for a clear brakelight or not
That's all for now, I need to fix my leaky passenger side headlight before anything else!

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..
I'm surprised they had any mirror glass's left, after your bulk ordering....

Haven't updated my journal for a while but have done a couple of mods over the summer.
Firstly I changed all of the badges on the car to carbon fibre ones, all four wheels, bonnet, boot, side gills and also steering wheel. Much prefer these to the standard BMW ones and think it makes the car a little more modern.
Next was a clear 3rd brakelight, finally managed to get one from a breakers completing the clear light package all round.
Also fitted some LED SMD sidelights in the front bumper which are a lot brighter than the previous ones and match the colour of my xenons.
And finally the hard top is one for the winter months.
Winter wheels will be going back on this weekend I think
Just in the process of doing a couple of interior mods so will update when these are finish maybe next week.

Thanks for all the comments guys, sometimes I get a little bored and wonder about a different car but reading back over your comments it soon puts a smile back on my face and I never want to sell it
I love the car with the hardtop, although it doesn't look quite as nice with the winter wheels on. I think a combination of the BBS wheels and hardtop and its the cars best look.
I'm not so much a fan either of the black soft top for me its either roof down and tonneau cover over it or hardtop on and they are the two best looks of the car.
Like you say badman, the cloth roof and plastic window doesn't suit the styling of the rest of the car its the only thing that lets it down a little.
But saying that, its not often the car has its roof up

I still remember going to the garage with you to view the car, and thinking that the flat battery was maybe a bad sign......
But you had the vision to take that car on this step by step journey to what you have nowadays.
Nice work David.

It never had a flat battery when I got there
It's certainly a lot different to what it was the day I picked it up, although I must admit I would probably driving round in a little Clio now if it wasn't for you having your zed.
Only thing is my next car now has to be an ///M

So I have been adding a couple of mods to the interior recently. Firstly I replaced the interior bulb and boot bulb for new SMD LED ones which are extremely bright and not as yellow as the standard ones.
Following on the LED theme, Zeds can be a little annoying at time because unlike more modern cars they do not have any footwell lights, useful for those wanting to hoover in there at night or if you drop anything in the dark. Now that there is loads of different LED's on the market I thought I would install some of the flexible strip type ones in the footwell and wire them to the main interior light.
They simply wire into the positive and negative wires on the interior bulb and come on at exactly the same time as the standard one and dim on / off. Peel off the double sided tape and stick them out of site somewhere.
The footwells now look like this
Also the zed doesn't have a glovebox light which is really annoying at night, another LED strip connected to the others and I can now find what I'm looking for
Had a couple of spares left over, so they went either side of boot, connected to the boot bulb

Had a few parcels recently, some of there contents below
The centre console won't be getting changed until the summer when the weather is better, but the other things will be going on in the next few days when I get some time. A new mesh grill for the front bumper as seen on the sport models, a couple of chrome exhaust trims and some new gaiters with grey stitching, thanks to z3cade for the suggestion!
Also had some new mats at christmas but haven't pictured these as I'm sure you all know what they look like
Installed a new head unit in the car, but yet to take any pictures of this and along with the mesh grill for the bumper there is a little update on the front end now the car has returned from the bodyshop

Managed to fit my new chrome exhaust trims today, and gave the inside of the exhaust a little polish
From this
To this
Looks much better
Although I don't know whether the design has changed or what even thought the part number is right, but when they are fitted correctly they seem to be upside down, as the retaining bolt is on the top of the exhaust and not underneath making it pretty pointless as you cant get a screwdriver in to do them up. I had to change them for a couple of bolts. And this is the only way they will fit otherwise they don't follow the lines of the bumper as they are designed to.

Yes they should fit that way as the two 'ridges' should be at the top and the screws underneath so you can do them up but it I put them this way they are the wrong way round as the longer part of the trim is on the left side so they don't follow the lines of the bumper. It's like they should be on a car with the exhausts exiting on the drivers side.
Saying that, they do fit perfectly just as the others did with them on this way and you can't see the bolts in the top unless you bend right down.

Managed to give it a clean today before the rain and got a few photos of the latest mods
Firstly I have fitted a carbon fibre style bonnet grill which matches in with the carbon fibre badges nicely and makes the front look a little more aggressive
Also got the mesh grill fitted into the bumper recess and my new Rieger lip fitted to the bottom of the bumper. It came back from the bodyshop last week with the lip fully sprayed and whilst it was in I had the whole bumper sprayed again so its nice and fresh
Had another parcel turn up today, bit of a bargain I thought ...
A genuine BMW rear screen, brand new, still in the BMW box all sealed up with correct tools etc for £60
This will be fitted when the hardtop is removed in the spring.
Finally the car as it is at the moment, it won't be getting any more money spent on it now for a long time!

No air con in my car, the roof switch has been moved to the centre console to replace a blank where the A/C switch would be.
Who needs air con in a convertible anyway? I have a big folding thingy that comes down to supply unlimited fresh air all around me
