ZRoadster Calendar 2012 - Your Forum Needs Your Pictures

Post by Robert T »

It's that time of year again ZRoadsterites,

Once again I am asking for photo submissions for the forum calendar. We will be offering a professionally printed and bound A3 calendar for sale made up using your photos. The calendar will be priced to cover the costs of printing plus small donation to help keep this wonderful forum running.

As a reminder, here are a couple of the pages from the 2010 calendar (last year's was a different shape).

Image

Image

This year's calendar will return to the more conventional landscape format, but we will stick with the new larger A3 format. In order to qualify for entry, all photos must be either your own pictures (or you must obtain permission from the person that took them), must be in LANDSCAPE format (HORIZONTAL orientation) and have an unedited original available which is a minimum of 5 (five) megapixels (about 2700x1900 pixels). Sticking to this will ensure that we can maintain the quality of the calendar. The postman will be groaning again this year, as A3 calendars are massive things to post!

As awlays, we are looking for photographs of ALL zeds (Z1, Z3, Z4 and Z8 inclusive) to put into the calendar. We have seen some really great photos posted up throughout the year, so please enter them for the calendar. For those of you who have been hiding your pics, please do consider entering, as we like to include a variety of shots. I would like to ask you to post just your best ones in this thread for consideration for the calendar. As always, we can unfortunately only pick 12 (the year still hasn't got any longer!). There is no set theme, so feel free to submit a mix of photos of single cars, groups of cars, abstracts and detail shots, meets, or just plain spectacular settings for zeds to be seen in - the only mandatory element is that the pictures must be zed related.

Please post your entries in this thread, resized to around 800x600, for us all to see. Assuming your entry is selected, I will ask for the original image later (this is important as I really cannot make a calendar from cropped/resized photos). Please also note that you must either own the copyright to the image or have obtained permission to use it.

The closing date for entries is Wednesday 14th December 2011.

Can't wait to see all your pictures and I will update this thread with more information as we go along. Ordering details will be posted in a separate thread when we get nearer publication.

Thanks R.

Is the site being down going to jeopardise the calendar this year Robert? I darn well hope not...

If it's any help to save the calendar, you could always choose from the POTM entries. There are a lot of great photos!

I have all the hi-res original images (where supplied) and email addresses of the contributors so you can get permission...

Fingers crossed as I love the calendar hitting the doormat! 8-)

Cheers, Gaz. Appreciate it. I'd prefer people to volunteer their images, if possible, but it certainly gives us a good fallback.

In view of the site being rather inaccessible for most folks, I will likely have to extend my deadline somewhat. I'll set a new date when the site is back to normal.

Cheers R.

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

Hi Robert
Using Ragtops timescales, I thought this one might do for winter... :P

On the other hand, it wouldn't look too bad in April or May :D

Thanks for all the piccies so far - it seems the hosts file hack is going viral!

Can I make a special request (particularly to jonttt), please can you post non-cropped versions of your photos. A3 paper is, by its very nature, A3 shaped. I need to see the rest of the photo to see whether I can make an calendar page out of it without either loosing bits, or having to invent bits of foreground and background to fill the page. I can't print a page that has a thin strip of photo down the middle!

Cheers R.

PS jonttt, a couple of those look really promising, I just hope there isn't a huge turd lurking in the foreground.

Caught & passed a Supercharged Exige S on that track evening! My brother was at the paddock cafe listening to the banter. The day before and after was a bike trackday and the banter sounded great. That's an F1 Engine man (works for Cosworth) in the passenger seat and I think he quite enjoyed himself. Son of Nick Wright who organises the BMW CC Track Days.

Not too bad for a hairdressers car

I am still waiting on some of the photos. We currently have 9 out of 12 pages done! As soon as the artwork is done, I will get it sent off to Giles and we can get printing. Two weeks downtime didn't exactly help, and nor did my not having internet access over Christmas. Rest assured I am working on it....
