BMWCCGB Zedfest, 20 – 22 July 2012, Silverstone Circuit

Post by Ian_C »

Calling all zed enthusiasts...

The BMWCCGB are hosting a zed festival at the Silverstone Classic from 20 – 22nd July 2012. We are endeavouring to gather approximately 500 zeds together on Saturday 21st July that will culminate in a parade lap of the circuit at lunchtime by all zed participants. It will be a fantastic spectacle!

Remember to bring your driving licence if you want to take part in the parade lap, the organisers will check that you have yours with you on the day

The Silverstone Classic booking office has now opened and we have received a club discount code (C12112) to enable zed owners displaying their cars with us on the special BMWCC area to receive buy one, get one free entrance tickets. As well as the entrance tickets you’ll receive an infield display parking pass at the lowest possible purchase price up until June 14th. Note that you will need to nominate the car you will take, as the model and the registration number will be pre-printed onto the pass. Have these details available when you make your booking. Optional on site hotel room or camping facilities are also bookable at the same time.

To be a part of THE zed event of 2012 then register your zed with me via this thread and book your tickets at www.silverstoneclassic.com/buytickets to ensure your participation – DON’T FORGET TO USE THE DISCOUNT CODE!

I’ll keep this first post up to date with participant details and will advise of numbers registered from other forums too. Remember to keep an eye on this thread for updates of what to expect on the day.

UPDATE

To make sure you dont waste time getting into the correct entry area, please study the "Car Club Infield Display " information sent with your ticket and windscreen car park area sticker.

Enter as shown through car park 49, signed on Left side before roundabout. Allow time to get through the coned lanes, until the Ticket Check. From Car Park 49 ticket control... Go to Tee junction, turn RIGHT and proceed to Stop line. Turn LEFT and proceed over the Bridge until the Mini Roundabout, turn LEFT and proceed in a straight line until you come to a STOP at the TRACK. Turn LEFT and proceed SLOWLY, under the bridge and prepare to STOP where directed by Club Marshals to your SIGNED area. We are using the disused circuit as our parking area, with all Classes-Models-Types in sections. All facilities are in this area. We will use this position for FRIDAY and SATURDAY, and going to AREA 14, adjacent to this position, for SUNDAY.

Please pay attention to the Club's HiViz Marshals, and take direction to colour coded parking areas:

Z1 - Green
Z3 Roadster/Coupe - Red
Z4 Roadster/Coupe - Blue

Please look out for individual signs in these areas for Model types as requested by a number of owners and treat OUR Marshals with Respect at all times - remember, they are trying to help you to enjoy this event.

It probably goes without saying but just to make sure - be CAREFUL when you open your doors to ensure that you don't ding the adjacent car.

...and do try and park in a straight line, it looks so much better on the photos :D

Thanks for your understanding and let's have a great zedfest!

UPDATE - INSURANCE
All participants should note that insurance is an individual responsibility. If you are concerned then you should check that your insurance covers this type of event (i.e. a car show and parade lap).

UPDATE - PARADE LAP

1. The celebration Z Lap is marshal controlled at ALL times - excessive speed IS NOT welcomed

2. The maximum speed will be ~35/40 MPH

3. There are likely to be ~250 zeds on the track with you

4. ALL cars should follow the Chief Display Marshal, keeping in line as when starting the lap

5. PAY ATTENTION AT ALL TIMES to the marshal. Use your mirrors and prepare for the unexpected

As we get closer to the day I'm hoping to have a confirmation of timings, formation etc. Please keep checking this thread for the very latest situation.

As posted in the other thread, you do not need to be members of BMWCC to participate.

Price for 2 adults on Saturday + V/Pass = £59.95

copied from my confirmation email

"CLASSIC CAR CLUB DISPLAY PACKAGE Infield car passes, issued with all admission tickets booked in association with Car Clubs, are for display cars only. The infield car pass will display the make, model, name of associated car club and vehicle registration. It will only be valid for the car that has been registered. If at a later date these details change - please log in and update herehttp://www.silverstoneclassic.com/login The cut-off for any changes will be Saturday 30th June 2012, thereafter at the event 'Welcome Centre' where you will need to exchange the invalid car pass for a new one, if eligible to do so."

Hope it doesn't rain like it did then...

Alfie, Di and RED are booked in for the Saturday.

Gonna crooze up with Mr TheFish on the Saturday morning, but we already have a booking for the Saturday night, so won't be hanging around long after the parade.

Looking forward to it!

Now wish for good weather too... car tucked up in my garage, gleaming, on trickle charger cos I and it hates this dull damp ugh weather. Other tasks to do meanwhile.
Any more from Dorset going? Ci :nerd:
We will be there and hope there will be a few Z4s as well as 3s.
I to must thank myredcar for his time and trouble.

There should be lots of Z1s,Z3s,Z4s,Z8s and Coupes. The whole idea is to get 500 Zs together.
The event is being promoted Europe wide to all Z organisations.
The challenge firstly is 500 on the Saturday and I would hope that they are arranged by model ie all the Z1s in line etc.
A few years ago some of us went to Switzerland and there were nearly 400 lined up on an airfield in rows by designation. Awesome site.

:( I tried to register and failed I will repost or edit this post when I succeed . I followed the Horwood house tip above and have booked the two nights now only got to book the event .

Decided to fire up the computer instead and it went through fine I hope I did it right used the code and the event has booked me in for the three days with 2xentry and 1 V/pass cost was £92.35 including booking fee then the hotel on top. I assume the 2xentry is two entry tickets for each day. Anyone know a good looking lady I could take?''':drive'

I am looking forward to it even though I am new here and to BMW :dunce:

But please count me in on Zfest
Black and Blue: Blue for road trips and black for the track. Pictures to come
