There's a strong possibility I'll be there, my daughter has just moved to Silverstone village. It would be rude not to visit her so I'll probably go down on friday and attend the Fest on Saturday - available for Sunday cruise.

How many Z1's are going ?
30 would be a nice number and more than ever before in the UK I would think.

As Jet says, I will be going (Mr Green), will sort out my ticket tonight.

My only questions is whether I have to do anything else to be able to park infield and take part in the parade lap.

Anyone else fancy a sunday morning cruise before we disperse? Talking to Ivan the Terrible, the 2009 Cotswold tour route was brilliant, great roads and stops, maybe we can do that again?

so far we have 7 interested parties.......

Alternatively, if its work related lend the Z1 to your favourite female and send her off to Silverstone. I am sure we will keep a collective eye on both of them.

No, holiday-related. Turns out to be the only week we can get away and my other half stamped her foot very hard indeed over the idea that we should fly out Sunday rather than Friday night as that would mean in her world view "losing" the first weekend of the holiday.

Jobs done since last posting.

1. Inspection 2 service carried out by ML
2 .Cam belt and pulley changed
3. Brake fluid/coolant changed
4. wheel alignment (3rd time-finally right) steering wheel now sits dead straight ahead at last. Should have gone to ML first
5.Tickets for Silverstone turned up :thumb:

See you all there...anyone know exact figures for Z1 attendance?

Re: Z1 attendance at Silverstone Classic ZedFest 21st July

Postby Neillfra » Wed 11 Jul, 2012 09:38

Can anyone help a new member who wants to attend the Z Fest at the Silverstone CLassic with his Z1?

I have this week tried to book tickets and was told by the Silverstone Classic Ticket Line that the deadline for buying tickets with Car Club participation was June 14 and that car club tickets were now sold out. Elsewhere on this forum another Z3 owner, LittleC, has been recently told the same thing but the moderator suggested to him to try again, and the June 14 Deadline only applies to discounts for tickets.

I would very much like to take part with my Z1 in the display and the lap of the circuit. After becoming a BMW Car Club member in May, I inquired whether there was anything extra I had to do to take part, and was told I simply had to buy tickets from Silverstone Classic and quote the code, and all would be well. This would appear to be the position still being publicised in the July edition of Straight Six, which of course was sent out after the June 14 deadline, if indeed that deadline still applies.

My questions are: Is the deadline reall and applicable? If it is, why was I not informed of it by the Club when I inquired or in any of the club magazines since I could/would have booked my tickets before June 14 if I had been told? If it is not, then how do I ensure when booking my tickets that I get tickets that entitle me to gain access to the relevant club parking area so I can be part of the display and the lap of the circuit?

Hi

Am I too late to join the party? Just arrived back in the UK and finally got the Z1 back on the road after fixing a cracked alloy and overheating problems.
I'd like a ticket for the Saturday and the parade lap if possible. Can I still get one through the silverstoneclassic.com website or am I too late?

Look forward to meeting up with the few familiar faces, and some new ones, after being in France for the last 3 years.

Cheers

Re: Z1 attendance at Silverstone Classic ZedFest 21st July

Postby Bluebaur » Sun 15 Jul, 2012 12:11

Now that we are only a few days away from the Silverstone Classic ZedFest, it it time to prepare for the event.

On the Saturday morning it is proposed that we now meet at the "Super Sausage Cafe" near Paulersbury some 6/7 miles south of Towcester on the A5, due to the number of Z1's attending. The original idea was to assemble at Sams house and move off from there, but for all the good reasons it would have been unfair to him and his family. The "Super Sausage Cafe" ( Post code NN12 7QD open at 07:00 hours ) is the meeting point for many of the bike/car clubs before entering Silverstone. It is approximately 10 mins. away from the circuit and it boasts large carpark, hot and cold food, drinks, takeaway sarnies etc.

We need to be parked at Silverstone by 09:30, so leaving the "Super Sausage" at 08:45 prompt should suffice, bearing in mind the high volume of classics and general public attending. Should we not be able to travel in convoy due to traffic, we must enter Silverstone by following signage to CARPARK 49 which is before the roundabout. On entering the circuit, the infield display vehicle pass must be clearly visible in the front windscreen. Allow time to get through the coned lanes, until arriving at the ticket check. Once clear proceed to the T junction , turn right and after 100 metres turn left into the BMWCC display area. The predominately hard standing display area has then been colour coded for the model types. Z1 colour code is GREEN.

I noted from another posting on this forum that driving licences must again be available for inspection if required before we can drive onto the cicuit for the parade lap. It is imperative that this is noted, as otherwise there may be some sad faces! The parade lap is scheduled to be around lunchtime as long as the racing timetable is not subject to undue delays. It is also requested by the organisers that our cars remain in the display area until at least 17:00 hours.

At this point I believe we have a guaranteed 25 Z1's attending but this could easily be closer to 30.

REMEMBER TO CARRY YOUR DRIVING LICENCE !!!

I'm looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday at the Super Sausage. I'll probably have my Dad riding shotgun as Catherine has deserted me for most of the weekend :(

I am afraid that I shan't be up for the Sunday cruise though, as I am going to be abck at the circuit, early doors displaying the old blue 3.0 csl...........

We need to pray for decent weather. On present form those prayers will go unheeded, but you never know! we are away for a couple of weeks soon after the Classic, so that usually marks the beginning of the summer (when I pay to go somewhere nice the weather at home is usually fantastic!).

See you on Saturday.
Best regards,

Sam Lever.

Roger, are the Lincoln & Newark crew going down in convoy? If so what time do I need to be on A46?

Weather forecast is looking better for the weekend!

Might have to don the hardtop if this rain persists, always feel the car wont shrink when top is on. Didnt see much takers for a sunday morning cruise, so assumed it was not an option, but might join if weather holds up, but looking forward to seeing you folks saturday.

Is there a southern meeting point or you all driving solo?

I have a problem. I have left it far too late to obtain BMWCC tickets and a Display pass for the Zedfest on 21/7. I am happy to buy AA sponsored tickets but do not know how to get the Display Pass that would enable me to access where the Z1s are to congregate. The official ticket agency suggested I contact the Club. Any ideas?

I am happy to buy AA sponsored tickets but do not know how to get the Display Pass that would enable me to access where the Z1s are to congregate. The official ticket agency suggested I contact the Club. Any ideas?

Hi. Are you a club member? If you are, then the organisers have indicated that I could transfer my Saturday ticket and display pass (which I am sadly unable to now use due to a change of plans) to another club member.

Please let me know ASAP if you are interested as I am only around and able to deal with this until Thursday evening (then away abroad).

I hope the weather is better, it's hood down all the way!

I will be in layby on A46 immediately after my turning at 6.45am. See you then. Give me a ring if plans change.

Best wishes,

Darren.

Looks like it's all changed!

UPDATE - MAJOR Change of Display Location > NEW DIRECTIONS

Due to poor ground conditions at Silverstone, we have been moved at our request, to a new position as follows:

New Directions
From Car Park 49 ticket control... Go to Tee junction, turn RIGHT and proceed to Stop line. Turn LEFT and proceed over the Bridge until the Mini Roundabout, turn LEFT and proceed in a straight line until you come to a STOP at the TRACK. Turn LEFT and proceed SLOWLY, under the bridge and prepare to STOP where directed by Club Marshals to your SIGNED area. We are using the disused circuit as our parking area, with all Classes-Models-Types in sections. All facilities are in this area. We will use this position for FRIDAY and SATURDAY, and going to AREA 14, adjacent to this position, for SUNDAY. We hope the better weather will improve our event.

Information will be given throughout the event duration from the Club's marquee.

Thanks for your patience and understanding on this. Finally, PLEASE pass on ALL this info to others you know are coming to zedfest.

DON'T FORGET YOUR DRIVING LICENCE!1997 Z3 2.8
