Z assaulted by black cab (bodyshop needed!)

Post by Racing Tortoise »

Vastly annoyed. Just got the Z1 back yesterday after nearly two months of being in and out of Munich Legends for servicing/repairs, only for a black cab driver to try to squeeze past the front of my car and drag the back wheel/rear corner across the front corner of the Z1. Aargh!

He stopped, was apologetic and we swapped details but.......aaargh!

Anyone got any recommendations for good bodyshops in central London?

Argh no!
I can't recommend one in London but Sandicliffe of Loughborough have just collected the Red z1 after something strange happened to it at the Royal Windsor horse Show.

Damage to the bonnet boot and hood.
Hagerty have been fantastic. And the body shop will have it done for silverstone classic.

Jonnie I hope you get it sorted quickly.

Regards

Ivor

Park Lane are still dearer on labour rates (£90+VAT for Classics vs £69+VAT at ML), plus I have less confidence in their knowledge of Z1s.

Gosh, Looks nasty! mind the cab was a bloody Merc.. No wonder he didn't know how to drive! hope you'll get it sorted soon, but it definitely isn't your summer after the brake light episode! By the way did ML tell you the origin of the problem... And the cure?

It was a loose connection likely caused by them disturbing the wiring whilst fitting the new dampers. They fixed it free of charge.

Oh dear RT. How bloody annoying. I don't have any recommendations, but hope that you get it sorted as spoon as you can - especially now that the sun is out!

Annoyingly, it might need a new wing, believe it or not, as all the mountings have snapped/cracked on that side (they are fine on the other side).

Really sorry to hear of your troubles RT I also can't recommend a London based repairer, but when I saw your old green car after ML had arranged for a cosmetic makeover it looked like new.

I know it's a bit of a trek there but they did your old car proud
Hope you get it sorted soon.

Sorry to see this RT...hope you get it fixed soon. If you have any luck sourcing a new wing through ML could you PM me as I'm in the same boat unfortunately.

Cheers

Will do. I have also requested a quote from BMW Park Lane's Classic workshop - they were the ones who raised the mounting points issue when they inspected the car. They are looking into whether wings are available...
