Just won an eBay auction for this @ £23 - fits on front of instrument pod

My cosmos black car was fitted from new with both exterior and interior chrome packs and I just think this will compliment the interior nicely

Its self adhesive apparently, seller reckons these normally retail for £60 but I wouldn't have paid that much

Got a new gear knob, big mistake ordered non factory cheapo off Ebay, doesn't fit looks crap :x
Now ordered genuine BMW leather knob (non Msport)
Pay for what you get £38 instead of £8 and looks the part so hopefully fits
Coming Monday can't wait to throw the after market one in the bin, lesson learnt

Oh sorry mate, I had it on my watch list and hadn't bid, logged on last night and by sheer coincidence there were 2 mins left to go so I made a last minute bid and won! I must say add that every eBay auction I have ever bid in I have always been outbid, so this was a first and tbh I expected it to go a lot higher as I think it is quite an unusual part. Will def upload a photo when fitted just so you cab se how it looks in case another one ever comes up for sale...

Yes, same seller so don't bid until I get mine resolved. Not only zero feedback, looks like that they are a brand new eBay member and mine was the first item they ever put on there...

Not specifically for my Z, but to use on it: http://www.sgs-engineering.com/hydrauli ... olley-jack

My son has a Z4M Coupé and my old trolley jack won't pass under the jacking point so a low profile one became necessary. Yesterday I went to do an oil and filter job on my own car (Z3) and found it was too high for that too so the jack was ordered and it arrived an hour ago. Looks good... 8-)

Quote 'My son has a Z4M Coupé and my old trolley jack won't pass under the jacking point so a low profile one became necessary.'

Got the same problem with our 2 cars and daughter's car so resorted to two 2" planks to raise the car enough to get the jack under and a home made low angle ramp to get the cars onto the ramps when I need more room.

Brian, I have a set of ramps that I bought in the 1970s. They went under my old MG Midget and the Hillman Hunter I had at the time, but since those cars went, no car I've had has sufficient clearance under the front to use them. I have been meaning to do the plank trick you describe to resurrect them but as yet haven't found the timber to suit. You've inspired me since I have to do an oil change on my X-Type very soon. :)

A nice set of chrome gills £50 (seemed like a deal), however not too sure whether I'm going to like them on my Montreal blue or not? Will fit and see :puzzle:. Jack at Royale is working his wonders refurbing the steering wheel to a black plain (textured) extra thick ///M stitch (I wanted the textured finish so it matches the textured finish of the plastic airbag. Such a helpful and good communicator is Jack :). Front wheels over to Alloy Wheels at Melton Mowbray (noticed a slight 'dink' on the inner rim) and finally probably removal of the purple flavoured poly bushes I had fitted 5 months ago.......I personally find them a bit too hard for normal road use, with bumps etc ( I think they don't help the inherent tram line problem either, but that's only my opinion. Quick service and check of the fluids and Let Mans24 here we come :sunny

Doh! Sods law, there's a massive high pressure moving in this week, but I've got no wheels! C'est la vie

I found that too on my first Z3, when I fitted purple Polyflex bushes, made my tramlining more pronounced, and I had to embarrasingly apologise to every passenger for loosening their fillings...
I even fitted the 'fabled strut brace cure', another load of tosh... :D
Different tyres were the only and immediate cure,

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

I'd be interested to see some pics of that when it's done. Most people seem to go for perforated leather, but I'm kind of inclined towards your way of thinking.

Well. tomorrow Kev at Alloy Wheels is going to true the wheels up, and I'll have a chat to him about the 'polys'. Suppose it's just down to personal preference, but there seem to be quite a few who have tried 'polys' and have reverted back to the original OEM type as first designed.

The steering wheel will hopefully like this

My E91 330 has part smooth and perforated which looks and feels nice, but I was very much aware of that airbag texture and wanted a similar flow across the wheel to keep the asthetics right. No, my Z3 is not an M Sport, but I just like the stitch colours...so what :D

I bought my Zed a new MOT. A couple of minor advisories but nothing that needs immediate attention.

All parts needed for retrofitting Cruise Control! To be exact, parts were bought two weeks ago, but I received the last two of them this week. After a bit of ebaying, I found everything for a total of £87 shipped, very happy with the price. 8-) Let's just hope everything works!

Parts needed are:
- Cruise control stalk
- Steering column underside trim with an additional cut for the stalk (unless you want to cut your existing trim)
- Clutch pedal switch
- Cruise control unit
- Actuator (and three nuts to bolt it on)
- Bowden cable (just learned that mine is from 1.8/1.9 E46, but the end looks exactly like the correct cable for Z3M, so if the length is right it should fit)

Also booked an inspection II service, with some additional work to be done on top of the usual list...

And 3rd dumb question of the evening (another one asked on a different thread :D ) Why are all the wires hanging off the control unit? Or is that where they have just hacked it out of the donor car and actually those wires and the connector are what are already in the car and the silver unit just connects to it?

I think it is fitted on all (or most) Z3s? Anyway, mine has it already. :thumb:

I haven't checked the wiring loom, but peeps say all the required wiring and connectors should be there on all Z3s, so this should be a pretty quick bolt-on job.
bertiejaffa wrote:Why are all the wires hanging off the control unit? Or is that where they have just hacked it out of the donor car
Yep, they've just used the cutters to remove the unit from donor car.

This has been one of the longest ten days of my life!....... Why? :puzzle:

As we all know its been wet and windy over the winter months, so a good time to send the steering wheel away for a refurb. However, as we also know a huge high pressure moved in the very day I sent off my wheel, and ever since has been top down driving weather! :bawl: The only consolation is that Jack has nearly completed the job and delivery is on Tuesday, and I'm sure the standard of workmanship will be spot on as usual. The best things are always worth waiting for, eh.

Huh, sods law........bet it rains Tuesday onwards :head:

New water pump - had "fun" getting the old one out.
New auxiliary belt tensioner - old one sounded like a rattly roller skate.
New O-rings, bleed screw and drain plug on the expansion tank/radiator.
New BMW coolant
Inspected all the coolant rubber hoses but they still look like new! :D
