New Project - Breaking Z3 1.9 artic silver narrow body

Post by spurs fan in a coupe »

Well, the weather up north yesterday was grim, but getting change from a tenner for 3 pints is a rare treat!

Here's the next zed to be broken.

A few bits already reserved but almost everything is for sale.

When I get home I'll get some proper snaps and start a few threads for the popular items,
Bonnet
Mirrors
///M front bumper!
Storm gear knob!
Standard black leather seats
OEM roll hoops
Rear luggage rack
Chrome side shark fin bonnet grills
17 inch style 18 (I think) rims
Etc etc

(Exhaust and side skirts provisionally sold)

300 mile road trip to go!

It is a 'P reg' and has seen better days, I've just got home after putting in a 300 mile stint and I wouldn't sell it to anyone in this condition.

The advisories for the MOT were fairly significant.

Very true, otherwise I wouldn't bother, but I also get a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction from working on cars.

I also enjoy the 'helping' members on here and other forums who want little things that no one else bothers to reply to message and requests for, boot trims, light bulbs, bolts, switch blanks, covers etc etc.

A 6 month old, full time job and cash flow restricts how much I can get done!

I must say that the roof down action today helped me realise what the Z3 is all about, having only ever really driven my coupe.

Suppose it just proves what good value these cars actually are, when they are worth more parted out. But only if you get a good one though. Still feel sorry for the poor little sod especially as it gave you such a good top down blast home 8-)

Hi,

The driver's side is stuck at the moment, I've put more oil on it, but I think it's going to snap.

Sorry

Hi Andy unlike eBay, there's nowhere on here to give feedback etc but I just want to say thanks for the gear knob... Arrived yesterday, well wrapped and in great condition. Great price too... It's not the first thing I've bought from you and probably won't be the last - this is another thing that makes this forum great

Hi,

Not sure how far you are stripping the car, but would you have the ABS pump for sale? Part No 34511164333. It would be good to know if there were any fault codes showing related to the ABS also; and I understand I might need the original VIN to be able to recode the pump to my car (althought I might have just misunderstood that bit?). Thanks

Checked on RealOEM. The 2.0 is a different part although the 1.9 should be the same. If you get one that may be suitable please let me know.

As an aside - Interestingly neither of the part Nos you give are found on a search of RealOEM. I am sure you know the part Nos but it would be interesting (and perhaps save me wasting time) if have you, or other members, had any experience of using the RealOEM search and finding it unreliable?

Thanks for your interest.

It has no ASC so that may be the difference?

Well that looks pretty much the same as mine, which does have ASC, except for only having 5 pipes attached to the valve block instead of my 6. The pump on mine only says ASC, but the control board case says ABS+ASC - see http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopi ... 75#p331975 I take it that there is no ASC button inside the car? Note that there are separate part numbers for both the pump and control board. Surprised to see a 1.9 without ASC - what is the build date of the car?

No ASC button in the car, does have an auto-hood button, but no auto hood!

It is a P reg so a very early car

Many thanks to Robert T for the link to an earlier thread. I had searched for "fault code 113" but not turned up much. This link and the information for ECU testing are really helpful.

I am not getting any sensor faults. My ABS+ACS lights come on occasionally and generally following a heavy application of the right foot. Next time I restart the car the lights come on briefly then go out, which I presume is a notification of a stored fault. They may stay off for a few hundred miles. I think everything is pointing to a faulty pump and when it is called for e.g. traction loss under hard acceleration, the pump fault is generated. Given the cost of getting the pump repaired (around £250) would it be worth replacing the rear ABS sensors. or would it be best to accept the apparently obvious and go ahead with the repair? Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.

OK maybe it does have ASC!

I found this whilst removing the centre console!

That's a facelift centre console. Definitely not a standard fitment on an P-reg! I doubt that particular ASC button says anything about the car!
