Just got cables from Carshack and adaptors to fit both types of OBD sockets and round 20 pin Santa did as he was asked.

Works with INPA on the 2000 Z3 and 07 E61

Not played much yet but all works after set up the laptop. Just need a new battery for the laptop as it has died so has to be plugged into the mains at the moment.

this is a good idea, items of use other than diagnostics :) i used to be a member of another forum for a particular type of Honda, there was a member on there that owned a garage and would allow other forum members to use it. the pit was so handy not to mention his tools, he would even make cups of tea and was a real nice chap to boot. this is what forums are about :)
I tried my impa on an e46, didn't go into that many modules as it was just a looksee at the engine error memory, seemed to work fine :)

@sebring - this is not the place to start a discussion on specific problems - please feel free to start a new thread for that - the knowledgebase article should help though: http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopi ... 42#p332639

I'll update the map when I get a chance.

I have a laptop with DIS/INPA diagnostcs software and the ADS interface cable running through a serial port (thus it can read everything you could ever wish for).

I haven't used it in a while but I know the basics.

I'm located in South East London.

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

I have just got my INPA set up working and have both ADS and OBD 20 pin connectors and OBD 16 pin, I have only tried it out on my 97 car with ADS but have successfully cleared the usual seatbelt pre-tensioner air bag light so its all working.

I need to do a bit of fiddling and get it out of German language but you can add me to the list, mid wiltshire, BA12.

Edit - All sorted now and out of German language, has been really helpful with the ECU swap on the E30 recently.

I have an 03 3.0 sport and my indy says he cannot use his diagnostic kit because his is the round type and my car has the square type. maybe as the Z4. Can anybody throw a light on this? What type of diagnostic kit would I need?

AFAIAA all Z3s have the round connector under the bonnet. It is needed because the OBDII connector inside the car is only connected to the engine module. The location of the under-bonnet connector varies between models. I would be surprised if your car doesn't have one, as I am not aware of any further electronics changes after the facelift.

My ///M only has the round port under the bonnet and the C230 is ok for limited info but will do the basic resets but I have a laptop that I'm planning to use for one of programs that has a few more bells and whistles I believe.
