Mine is torn up at the frame pinching contact point on both sides.
Time for replacement.
BMW factory bit was at least $2500 plus installation
Custom from scratch at a local quality shop with installation was $1200
Ebay has an aftermarket company "AutoBerry" from "EZ-On Auto Tops" at $200 off.
When asked the company offered free shipping to match the Ebay ad for the OEM material, so I gambled and for $650 have a new top coming in OEM fabric.
So, I asked them, how many have they made and sold? Six so far, two domestic to USA both in OEM fabric, and 4 going out to Europe, all in the aftermarket fabric.
Has anyone bought one of these in the forum? Installed it via a shop? Put it on themselves?
Curious in advance, and of course will report back on how it goes installing it at home. Was told to leave it up and dry for 2 weeks after install to allow it to settle.

I believe they supplied me with a new Z3 top some yars ago. I did the install myself and the results were excellent. Good luck with the purchase and the task ahead.

I also used Memelink for replacement roof. Took the option with a raingutter, which helped the dripping on the seat when opening the door in the rain...
Re: Replacement Z1 Top
My hood was frayed on the driver's side, so I had two patches sewn in by AllWheel Trim. They replaced the back window at the same time for £400 inc VAT. They had previously done the same for the ex-Clarkson fungelb Z1. Because the rest of the hood and all the seals are still in good condition, I thought this was a more reliable way of getting the hood into a neat and weatherproof condition. The patches inside the hood are designed to stiffen the area that could get caught in the frame and should prevent future damage. We'll see.

That car was up for sale at Silverstone Classic over the weekend, and judging by the interest, may have a new owner by the time Gaydon comes around. The patch wont stop it happening, but it does a very good of slowing it down.ChrisS wrote:My hood was frayed on the driver's side, so I had two patches sewn in by AllWheel Trim.
