Red Z1 for sale- soon to be featured on TV

Post by Z1James »

Dear all

We are nearing completion of our Z1 project, and I'm delighted to be able to offer it for sale

Here is a little bit more about our car:

Offered for sale is a beautiful BMW Z1, first registered in July 1989, and having just undergone a major refurbishment

If you’re looking for a Z1, you’ll already know that these cars were built as a futuristic technology showcase, and many of the car’s innovations were carried forward into BMW’s future models

The bodywork has been repainted in original Top Rot red, the wheels refurbished, the interior leather reconditioned, and the engine bay detailed

In addition, many new parts have been fitted to the car, including a new clutch, handmade stainless steel exhaust system, two new tyres, and much more

This Z1 looks great, performs well in every way, and would make an excellent investment that is ready to be used and enjoyed now with 12 months MOT

All of the above work has been undertaken as part of a well-known television programme. Any potential purchaser would need to be available to film with us on Tuesday 15th July

Price £24995

That's a nice finish, what mileage has it done? Noticed the black leather retrim only extends to some parts, any chance of some more interior shots?

I'm a big fan of the program, I know it's all rather corny and well edited but always happy to sit and watch an episode. My download box is on series record so I won't miss it when it's aired. Wonder when they'll do a Z3! :)

Cheers

Big fan of the programme too. Look forward to seeing the Z1 before the work had been done.

I was at a local coffee-and-bacon-sarnie classic car meeting on Sunday morning and spotted a couple of people checking out my Z1. I had a chat with them and it turned out they are the purchasers of the Wheels Dealers car in this thread. Even more of a coincidence is that my Z1 is the pristine example being used at the shows intro and I had seen their Z1 naked being driven by Edd when my car was filmed.

The Z1's new owners are a very nice couple who life reasonably close to me (Reading way) so we'll get the two Z1s together once they have picked up their Z1 at end of July.

If anyone finds out when the episode is due to be broadcast, please can they post it on here? Preferably in a new thread so it's obvious!
Cheers.

Am I correct in saying that this new series in which the Zed 1 will be on, is not available on freeview ? The Discovery channel seems to be Sky only (which I've not got) and I really don't want to have to wait until it's repeated on poor mans T.V

For those of you without Discovery, you should be able to watch it online after it has aired in the UK.

On the 30th Sept, type into Google something like "watch wheeler dealers BMW Z1"

You'll get a choice of websites to choose from.

Not the same as watching on your plasma TV, but saves you waiting elsewhere to watch it.

I should point out that this info was given to me by by son when I told him I was bored in my hotel room.

Haven't tried it yet myself though but it's got to be worth a go.

Here you go guys, I use this site all the time for watching TV series:

http://www.free-tv-video-online.me/inte ... r_dealers/

Looks like all 11 series so far are on here, and their 'trading up' show as well.

However, for some reason, series 11 (2014) shows up as series (season) 13.

Great episode. 100kg transmission assembly  . Loved the bits where Edd drove the shell around Chertsey(?).

I still want to see what they have to do to make the foreign cars UK legal.

Very little, front lights, MPH Clock sticker, wire up rear fogs, MOT, DVLA .....?

Interesting episode, I was hoping it was going to be a real dog of a car that needed some serious work and I will learn something. Stunning paintwork though.

Anyone else spot the website Edd used to lookup the door belt tension....?

Hi All,

No wing mounted indicator repeater either. MOT testers also like the Fog light to work on the offside, so you have to run a link cable from the nearside light fitting.

Commented to a friend about the website.

Watched the episode last night off the download box. I enjoyed it as always but who in gods wholly name would paint a Z1 that colour?? You look at Brian's Z3 in Dakar and it looks great! Just shows not all cars look good in all colours. Looked great in top red tho when they'd done with it. Maybe a Z3M next series? :)

Cheers

I wish :D
Not sure if the laws have changed, but it used to be you had to superimpose a clear sticker over the top, marking out the 30 and 70mph points.

My car has been in the UK since 1998. There's never a question about its km/h speedometer and the 'mileage' is always qualified on the MoT certificate as being kilometres. I want to keep the speedo in km/h, partly because it tallies with the distance recorder in km. The speedometer is also fairly inaccurate; an indicated 120 km/h corresponds to just about 70mph on my satnav, which I assume to be accurate. It's within the permitted 10% tolerance but is that normal?
