Wet wet wet. Help!!!!!!!

Post by webby »

Can you believe it. Just called bmw to order some new door seals as I'm leaking like a siv and bmw no longer make or sell them. Anyone got any ideas round this without buying from America as I need to sort this now. I'm getting water in the passenger footwell. Seems to be coming down the seal and inside.

There are threads from a while back on leaking roofs. There's a rubber bung that needs re-bonding, and a drain channel that blocks. Search for leaking roof.

Try http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopi ... of#p379185

and http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showth ... p?t=254611

Unless the rubber has oxidised it should still seal properly.

Cheers mate. I've sealed the join like everyone else has where the catch is. But I'm getting a leak from the bottom of the door seal run a hose over it etc. can't see where it's coming in. Very frustrating.

We had a leak similar on ours and it turned out that the membrane behind the door card was not sealed at the bottom. It had come unstuck so put some black silicon over the unstuck area and pressed the membrane back and let it cure and solved. Worth a look as the door cards come off easily enough carefully not to break the clips.

I would agree with Brian4. If you have a leak which appears to be coming either through the door card or getting in at the bottom - a culprit is often the waterproof door seal. Often it is because some previous owner has done some clumsy DIY and damaged the seal/membrane. I've done repairs in the past (on various cars) with waterproof duck tape. :)

Dont worry, a well aimed water leak will extinguish the fire.

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

Order the parts from America if you want them.

I often bought parts for my Porsche 928 S4 and my Ferrari Mondial t from the USA, and they always turned up within a couple of weeks.

Also you can still buy the passenger side door seal on ebay UK and it's possible to modify it so it fits the driver side.
