Duxford Spring Car Show 03/05/15

Post by Brian4 »

Hi all

Looking at arranging a meeting at the Duxford Show 3rd May 2015. I've started collecting interested parties on .org. The BMWCC is arranging a meet and have booked 250 spaces but thought we could arrange for zeds to be together. I also understand the Z4 forum are arranging as well.

£10.00 admission per person for booked car club members which includes admission to the museum.
Here's a link to the IMM Duxford website.

Hi Dave

Yes no prob, but as it was very busy last year I think the organisers are tying more to gauge probable attendance and space allocation. I was booking as Zroadster forum and usually we are next to the other BMWs

I've added a link to Upcoming Events.

I 've been to a few shows at Duxford, very mixed variety of cars on display and of course the Museum is well worth visiting.

Located at J10 on the M11 click

Went to a Alfa Romeo owners club day at Duxford around 10 years ago. It was a great day out with the museums and the Alfa stalls. Although not as sociable as our more personal meets. The Airpark meet as an excellent example! Seeing rare cars and planes is always a treat. Looking forward to more of the same this year!

I'm sure they'd be a few happy to meet early for a cruise down. I'll keep an eye on things and if there's any interest I'll set up a separate thread and will organise something. : :drive

Brian, have you put an application in yet?

I'm the one organising the Z4 forum pitch which we have been accepted (I also did it last year and was a success)
If you haven't done so already it would be good to have Z3's and Z4's all together, what do you think? I don't think the members I already have on my list would mind being together. If so I can put a thread on here collecting a list of names.

Unless you want to go it alone of course, which I understand if you do.

Snap so do we.(live there)
Nothing definate arranged yet but could do things at short notice weather dependent. Duxford is worth it for the museum alone

Been in contact with Russ from the Z4 forum and we are joining up with them and people from .net so will be a really good turnout of zeds. Just need some Z1 and Z8 to make the full house.

So far 6 of us 15 from .org and 21 from Z4.

Hi, How do you buy tickets for this event, I find the IWM website user unfriendly with no listing for this date. Or can you just pole up and pay on the day?

Hi Dave, That sounds an idea, thought you may have been going A1 way though. Quickest route is M1/A14 which is 100 miles from me but I know you were suggesting more interesting roads. Being only a baby 1.9 I'm worried I may have to peddle hard to keep up with your 2.8  Is Koolflyer coming?

There is no pre booking.
Just turn up and pay at the gate.
Exhibitors entrance is further down the road from normal spectators car park.
I'll post final details nearer the time when Duxford have informed me.

I'm the one organising the stand but it will be down as the (Z4 Forum)

We will most likely be at the side of the BMWCC (as last year) so don't get confused when coming in and parking with them.

With me organising it I will do my best to be one of the first there to direct people into the right place (along with any other volunteers) :D :D

Don't worry about that Adrian. Me and Brian (brilie) are the only ones running together. No one else has put there names down and were probably the steadiest two drivers on the forum! I'll bump the thread I put on regarding a cruise down and I'll add your name on and will liase nearer the time as to where to meet and routes in. As for Pete (Koolflyer) he's on nights but said he was going to see if he could pull a swift one! If he does I'm sure you two could meet us together somewhere. :)

Cheers

Off head I reckon if you come over to Melton Adrian, will meet you there then Oakham, Corby, Kettering then onto the A14 and M11 for the last stretch. :) Brian. Will meet at McDonald's Ollerton and go from there as you know where that is and it's a good starting point for us. :)

Hi all, I'm new to this site as I picked up a black 98 Z3 2.8 last September and love it; it needs work to look as shiny as some of your pictures but there's time :D .
My son also loves it and it's his B'day in May so I thought this car show would be a great day out, please can you count me in and let me know what's expected? I'll be heading up from Kent on the day.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum no doubt someone will be asking for pictures of your Zed before long :)

Duxford is quite a big show with just about all cars represented in one form or another including Rolls and Bentleys! BMWCC has reserved 250 places but this year the Z3s have joined with the Z4s to form a separate group so we can all park together. Last year a group of us met at the John Barleycorn at Duxford and travelled from there to the museum in convoy and this is being arranged again by someone on another forum but, when finalised details will be posted here as well. At least one forum member is staying at the John Barleycorn, we are staying a couple of miles away in Great Chesterford and there will be others going directly to the museum. We actually park within the museum using a separately signed entrance and it is a great day out.

Hi and welcome MikeyBE

As Zed carer said there is a wide range of cars on display and a really interesting Museum as well. £10 per person entrance rather than £17 for public and we get to park in the grounds via a separate entrance. I am trying to coordinate the zed forums and with the Z4 forum but will post more details when finalised. There are about 40 Z3 and 4's so far and may even get Z1 and Z8 to turn up.

Its up to you whether you stand with the BMWCC or come on our stand (Z4 forum), 2 separate groups.

last year we were next to BMWCC. Don't know about this year, Duxford don't arrange stands till just before event.

As well the cruise down from the north organised by Davejue1. The Zeds, if not going straight into the museum, generally meet at the John Barleycorn in Duxford village for coffee and a natter before going into the museum in convoy. The time has not yet been arranged, IIRC last year we met up around 9:15 / 9:30 at the John Barleycorn.

Stevn2057, if you want to join the cruise down to the John Barleycorn were meeting another guy from leics way at Melton Mowbray. Times and exactly where to be confirmed. Let me know if your interested and I'll put your name down. :)

Cheers
Dave
