Time to insure again
Time to insure again
Anyone recommend or know of any insurance companies that accept strut braces and air induction kits without adding mega ££££££ onto the quote. Thanks
Time to insure again
Put it on a classic policy,
They are not interested in add ons
I have a engine strut, butt strut and a full body brace, I can't get the market companies to insure it, it must now go at least 300 mph as if
It amazes me it. It makes the car safer
The insurance companies want any loop hole to get out of paying out
I use Peter James, I did mention it has addons he was not interested

Re: Time to insure again
I use RH Classics for my Yank Insurance and they ask if there are any mods.

However these enhancements enable the car to be driven faster, increasing any repair bill or compensation payout from a faster impact.
I hate insurance as its a racket but unfortunately they have a point you can't argue with here.

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..
Re: Time to insure again
I think the term old boyracer suits me then
I know they are protecting their interests, but there is often people on the other
end of the phone who don't even own or drive a car, and does have a clue what a strut brace is ?
I find it strange that on the newer cars these are a standard fixture
So why an increased premium on an older car to make it safer ? in handling ?

Re: Time to insure again
Indeed, time to insure....but who will insure you?
It seems that when you admit to adding a strut brace a lot of the insurance companies raise their eyebrows and say no! One lady seemed convinced that I would produce more power!....wow, wonder who's strut brace that was?? When one tries explain that the point is to help the chassis from flexing and make the car more stable. Also, most of the later cars including my E91 330 has one fitted as standard for this very reason, seems to fall on deaf or just ignorant ears....pity. I asked one company if I removed it, would they then insure my car....guess what the answer was?
I do now have some quotes, stating that it does not have any mods ie strut brace, which seems to be fine. So, I'm very fussy about telling these folk everything, for the very reason that if something did go wrong I'm quite sure their assessor's would be rubbing their hands if they could find a way out of paying up.
I'm with Admiral at the moment who seem to be ok, but I am going to check again after Easter. It doesn't seen like a sound reason in my opinion to rule out a strut brace, but some do......have you checked your insurance? Might be worth a call

Re: Time to insure again
Just insured with Elephant for the second year and asked about the strut brace. Person rang me back and no charge. Somewhere along the line I seem to think Admiral were part of Elephant so if they were to charge you, you could mention that Elephant dont charge.
Re: Time to insure again
Thanks for that John, that would tie up then........sounds they know what they are talking about then....cheers Pete
