Prices definitely look to be generally up dramatically for the Ms. Wish I'd bought one two years ago for £7,000 :(

Thing is, the market is now being controlled by the dealers. Nobody is selling theirs because they are watching the prices rise and the good ones that the dealers get hold of they can ask whatever they want for them and obviously they are asking more and more.

The market of these cars now is generally open to collectors and rich people who are not too fussed if they pay 25k or 45k - the car has to be the right one and they will buy it in the way us mortals may buy a cake to go with our coffee.

Of course if a private seller tried to ask that premium they would not get any interest because at that level of price people want piece of mind, maybe finance, maybe a px or maybe delivering to Japan etc.

There isn't much peace of mind. Most dealers only give a 3 month warranty.

Cars from dealers are no better than private sales in my experience (especially if it's a known long term forum car).

It's not a bad thing the prices being high.

After all they are worth it imho.

Very special cars the M. Possibly the last best M made by BMW, again imho!

I completely agree Mark; thing is though the chaps who are paying £30k+ are busy boys and don't spend any time on forums. They tend to buy as an investment or to just 'own' one of the cars they wanted years ago.

I know of many people who have just bought cars and had them delivered without even seeing them. Crazy but thats the way the market is going now on the really desirable stuff.

I agree Matt, is your old car for sale on Autotrader? Or is it a private owner?

I bought my M so that I could enjoy it :drive .

The last thing that I want is for it to become too valuable to enjoy.

I've come close to binning it on a couple of trackdays, I'd have been upset, but I wouldn't be suicidal. Things could be different if I thought the car was worth a quarter the price of a house.

That's the point. At the moment if I go on a trackday, or do some spirited driving, I do so in the full knowledge that the car is disposable. If it becomes too valuable, I won't enjoy it.

Parkway who appear to have 3 at the moment on autotrader are 5 minutes from my house. I wouldn't touch them with the proverbial! They sell next to nothing locally due to bad reputation. All there sales are Internet based as a lot of there cars are enthusiast type cars.

I was in the motor trade for a good few years and when they suddenly appeared over night with extremely expensive kit it was soon discovered a certain gentleman (be unfair to give names) was behind the funding. He'd been forced to shut down 2 other business' and had changed names 3 times prior to that due to huge numbers of complaints from customers and constant intervention from trading standards. Maybe they've cleaned there act up or the gentleman concerned is no longer involved but I'm afraid knowing past history I wouldn't buy from there. A good friend and neighbour of mine purchased a then 3 year old focus st from them to discover soon after the history had been fabricated and it had never seen a service. Like I say, maybe they've cleaned the act up but for me.....no thanks. I don't see why anybody would want to buy from any such car dealer. It ain't hard is it to source cars, valet them and charge £2000+ for the privilege when dealing in the sorts of vehicles parkway have lined themselves into.
Buy privately, when looking book an rac inspection and if all good valet it when you get home saving you £1850! A no brainer for me!

It's amazing how many people think it is a different car from the one that went through the auctions three weeks ago  . The only difference is that dealers have premises that you can go to if you have a complaint. I'm not saying you will get anything more than a rant off you chest, but at least you have someone to blame when you buy a lemon.

Funny thing was, last year Liam (z3cade) had his m on here for sale, 5 months or so.
It was one of the best M cars I've seen (seen a lot at the original zed fest).

Bargain, thousands spent on it, and we all missed out on it.

It will only go up in value unlike all the other engine zeds.

correct!!.., rare, capable, beautiful cars!!, I don't think they're suddenly getting overpriced, I think they're finally catching up to where they should be.

and anyone buying from a dealer is at least covered with regards to it being listed/on finance, that was always the reason why some liked to go to dealers, (although the world has changed, now I suppose the primary reason is to actually GET finance on their new vehicle)

ive bought from dealers in the past (despite being in the motor trade my whole life), if its been a car that I wanted that hasn't been available privately, but even buying from a dealers ive always still done my checks just like buying private!!, I don't see the issue with where I buy a car from if its what I want, and it check out, personally.

are dealers jacking up prices?!?!?, you'll just have to wait and see if they sell!!..., technically its the buyer that jacks the price up!!!!!!!!!!! (or rather, demand!!)

with regards to the price of the 6.5k mile one currently for sale well can you imagine how much it would be if it was a 6.5k e30 m3!!, (a car which is actually more common) as soon as another 6.5k mroadster comes up for sale privately we will see just what its really worth!!....., (might have a long wait though I think!!)

It's about time the roadster caught up with the bread van.

You get the best of both worlds with a roadster, when you add a hardtop.

Plus the roadster with a hardtop looks so much better than a coupe. IMHO.

yet again I find myself in complete agreement!, they are very very similar to use, and both have their positives over each other, I personally believe they should be around the same value as each other....., (but if I could only keep one it would be my roady!!)

Should have kept it! But in all seriousness It took a while to sell mine at over 10k. It was a minter too. I find with the new asking prices your getting into a new price bracket where so many different sports cars would be available.

to be fair I think there's similar numbers of each?!?!?, (I stand to be corrected though), and a good viable alternative!, fair point liam!, perhaps all the owners that seem to be upset because their cars are becoming to valuable to use could sell and buy a z4m instead! lol

one day, when they're older maybe they to will climb, but I don't think (IMO) they are anywhere near as classic looking which may be their sticking point, they never seemed to catch the worlds attention like the z3's (again my opinion!)

Hi Hornel ;) hope your well mate!

Z3M parts are selling well. Had some left overs from mine and they've all sold in the last few weeks.. Maybe people think these will go up value too?

Just got an original gear knob and handbrake handle left if anyone's interested. 2 grand for both :D

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..
