Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
Hi there
Have taken a shine to a Z1 and am therefore thinking of selling my S54 Roadster.
I own GY51AJO, which is a Sep 2001 registered Phoenix Yellow on Black Nappa. Current mileage is 60000 with a combination of main dealer maintenance and then a single West Country performance car specialist for the past 7 years. Car is currently stored in a temperature control garage.
Detailed extras are:
502 headlight wash
540 cruise control
672 CD changer
710 M Steering wheel
812 UK specification
853 instrument panel letter
877 remote alarm setting
530 air conditioning
669 BMW Business RDS
674 Harman Kardon hifi
785white indicator lenses
818 battery switch
I've been offered a decent sum by one of the specialist BMW dealers - what do people think its worth? - anyone interested in a first peek?

Re: Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
going off the current prices, got to be over £22k private?!?!..., probably up around £25k-£27k in a dealers ?!?!?!,......., after all it is one of the 73!!..., the rarest of all the z3 variants.... (not to mention ALL bmw's)
I certainly wouldn't be letting it go for less than £20k if I where you.
that's is my opinion.
and im entitled to it!!!!!

It's amazing that just last year a member here had his Phoenix yellowcS54 on here for sale and on ebay (maybe even this one) ? and as far as I remember it didn't even get to 8 grand.
How I regret not finding a way to purchasing this at the time, as much as I enjoy my 2.8 as a daily driver I would love to own an M but with current prices that seem to be inflated by the main dealers this looks very unlikely to happen now.

wasn't that one well up on the miles though?!?..., not that it really matters as they can handle high miles, however it seems to be the ones that are sub 75k that are in the higher price range (with coupes as well as roadys)Julie Z3 wrote:It's amazing that just last year a member here had his Phoenix yellowcS54 on here for sale and on ebay (maybe even this one) ? and as far as I remember it didn't even get to 8 grand.

There's an S50 that's done 116,000 for sale at £13,985 . It has to be worth a wee bit more than this .

Hah, I have seen a few threads related to engine failure with your name on, its a shame about the n/a 996, I used to hate the look of narrow bodied cars but they are aging quite well, if the engines weren't so temperamental i'd quite fancy a c2 or similar in its basic form. They look rather elegant in todays 'bigger is better' world

Re: Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
I ended up posting it on PH for £23950 - I guess the market will decide whether this is too high, too low or just about right!

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..
Re: Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
I posted about a car I went to have a look at in Devon only a year or so ago. I was just being nosey as I'd already bought mine by then. It was at a Lotus specialist in Lifton and the asking price was £11495. This looks like the same car! Will be a good test of how far the "market" has moved if the OP gets his price!
Re: Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
Yep and it sold too quickly despite the worst advert you could do as everything thought it was a scam.......it was too cheap = real bargain. So your point was ?gookah wrote:pingu wrote:There's an S50 that's done 116,000 for sale at £13,985 . It has to be worth a wee bit more than this .

I'm not saying S54,s are worth £20k or not, to be honest I have no idea but I would not let mine go for less which is all that matters to me. The seller seems to have his head screwed on, the market will decide. To imply it's worth £7500 is simply bad advice IMHO

Your right Jon.
I wouldn't sell mine for less than 20k either,
It's in as new condition.

Re: Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
No doubt, but it has shocked me how much the Z3m market and S54 in particular has moved on in 12 months. No doubt driven by dealers but they have caught onto the fact these are rare cars which look better and better as time goes buy with real potential to be one classics, they have all the ingredients. The gap between ///M and none ///M Z3s will widen in terms of value IMHO and S54s will command a bigger and bigger premium as awareness of a very rare BMW within an already rare car becomes better understood. Rarity and perceived desirability will always drive value. Some cars just have more of the right ingredients.911sc wrote:I posted about a car I went to have a look at in Devon only a year or so ago. I've seen it time and again, there will be a period when value is just hard to judge and prices will be relatively all over the place = classic rising fast paced rising market.

Re: Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
I think the M is such a good looking car, very few beat it for looks.
Re: Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
My point is that this thread seems to be preaching to the converted..... all the M owners on this thread are saying how much they think the cars should be selling for, and pointing out what the garages are asking for them, however in real life the one sold was not anywhere near those amounts.Jonttt wrote:Yep and it sold too quickly despite the worst advert you could do as everything thought it was a scam.......it was too cheap = real bargain. Perhaps that why his is sold and the others are still on the forecourt.
If you didn't already own one, would you actually pay these new amounts, I don't think anyone would, which is a different ball game altogether than already having one and summising what you would personally think it's worth to you.

Re: Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
There has been a couple of cars sold for 20k plus.
One recently went for a little less.
They haven't reached there peak yet. Give it 5 more years or so.

Re: Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
a 50K estoril s54 came up for sale last year not long after I bought mine, it just so happens that it was only 5 miles away from me. it was up for £12k, as soon as i saw the advert (Monday) I rang the fella, he told me it was away till Wednesday getting valeted (as it happens this was later confirmed to be the truth as my mates mate was the valeter!!), anyway he told me that it was in exactly as good condition as it should be, sounded like a genuine chap, so I said if it was 95% as good as described id give him his asking price, he told me he'd ring me as soon as it was back.
on the Wednesday morning I get a call from him, telling me that he'd had 15 other people after it, 2 of which were main dealers, and that as I had been the first caller he was giving me first refusal!!.., with one caveat!!.., that I had to give £14k to own it as that was the offer he had had from another buyer!, he also told me that he didn't want to have a "dutch auction" with the car, to which I replied that he already was!, needless to say I didn't go through with the purchase (primarily as I wasn't sure if he was just trying it on), the car was bought and collected on that Wednesday!! that was pretty much exactly a year ago.
low miles, unmolested cars have been actually quite steadily going up for at least a year now (along with pretty much everything with four wheels that's a little bit special!), im repeating myself a bit as ive said before that quite a few people in the know have for years predicted that m roadsters would appreciate!!..., the thing im finding most unbelievable is a few peoples surprise now as they actually are!!!!...., (especially on a z3 forum!!?!?!?!)
oh and for the record, if I didn't already have one, id be willing to pay £20k (maybe more) for a PROPER unmolested car.

Liam, yours was a cracker and its a shame it's not on the forum anymore.
Re: Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
Lol been through exact scenario with the 993 over the past 2 years, dealers will sell these cars AND keep the advert live as it brings in enquiries. There have been certain 993's for sale for months on pistonheads and every now and again someone uses them as an example of how they are overpriced, when it's pointed out the car sold within a day they go quite.
I'm not saying it's the same with Z3ms ......yet but don't assume a car for sale is still for sale on pistonheads
The most common advert for 993s are now wanted ads, I can see the Z3m going the same way, coupe especially and S54s definately.

Re: Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
Going to see this car as it is up for sale at silverstone on Saturday going to be out of my range but should be a good day out . They charge 17% plus vat as a sellers fee!
Re: Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
Let us know how it goes at Silverstone. I had also planned to take a trip up there, but family duties have taken priority!
Will be interesting to see what an S54 goes for at auction, as there are a few that come up for sale at various price points, but its not always clear what they actually sell for in the end.
Having said that, this one ( https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/200 ... 9-roadster ) does look nice, at least from the pictures and description.

Car sold for 17500 plus buyers premium of 12.5% which is subject to vat. This puts it virtually bang on £20k

Strange that all the cars sold prices include the base buyers premium but not the vat element on the premium....any ideas why?
17500 hammer price +
2187.50 buyers premium
Totals 19690 but I reckon buyer had to pay another 430 vat on top.......

Re: Z3M Roadster S54 for sale?
Could be they just choose to show prices ex VAT, it seeems cheaper to future buyers that do not read the small print?
