when I filled up the other day I found water behind the filler cap there is a black lining around the fuel pipe holding some water is that normal or should it drain away(it had been raining hard)

There`s a drain pipe in there that can get blocked. A thin piece of wire pushed down should clear it.

I have the same. Thanks for reply.

Do you where all are the drain pipes located throughout the Z3?

Dead Centre below the filler, if you get as much water out with a sponge it should become apparent if you run your finger over it.
