Re: Blue Z1 - Auction.
Light grey leather / cloth bleached by the middle eastern sun? I am going to the motorcycle auction on the Tuesday so will have a look at the Z1.
Previous MOT inspectors have had fun with the front indicators and side repeaters and the car has recently been refurbished by renowned marque specialists Munich Legends which included new replacement front wings ... without side repeaters.

Re: Blue Z1 - Auction.
Pur-Blau / Hellgrau is probably my favourite Z1 colour combination, but not as rare as Traum Schwarz / Hellgrau !!
As for the car itself, maybe it was owned by both the Sultan of Brunei and the Sultan of Oman .. you can never have too many Sultans when it comes to a cars history and provenance.
Spring has arrived and dealer asking prices for the average Z1 have climbed into the mid £30's which makes the H&H car a potentially interesting proposition at £25 to £30k ... plus of course the 15% commission and VAT.

I suspect it is time to review your respective BMWCC valuations for agreed insurance value purposes.

Certainly asking prices are on the increase. Just need to know what the actual buyers are paying before we can celebrate!
Mainland Europe prices are even more ambitious, have a look on Mobile.de and smile!

Hi,
Re the Hexagon car. Can anyone suggest why the leather on a drivers seat, that has only seen 200 miles of backside, is so baggy?
I will not comment on the price!!

I thought all nubuck seats left the factory winkled like Nora Batty stockings.
22kms from new .... and baggy seats.

Re: Blue Z1 - Auction.
What are the new owners hoping to do with these cars? My understanding is that they won't pass the emissions tests for a newly registered car in the EU. If I'm right and they weren't registered back in 1989/91, they are just a 1250kg paperweight.

Re: Blue Z1 - Auction.
Purblau/Hellgrau is one of my favorit combo's.
It had 38.000 km's in 2000. But what was the current mileage of this Z1?
Further and more important, did anybody noticed what's wrong with the chassisnumber plate?

4,200 miles... 4,154 miles in August 15 ... 4,118 miles in 2007. See https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/?_ ... 1447712588

I wouldn't pay more at an auction than I could afford to burn.TJS wrote:Welcome to the non recourse world of car auctions.
One hour to check - and that is only to check for roadworthiness and "not as described" faults. Everything else is caveat emptor.
I think too many people have been watching Wayne Carini and think that it's like visiting a dealership .

Re: Blue Z1 - Auction.
Its age, rather than Mileage. Another 'feature' of the Z1 is the bonded seats, rather than yanked over the top like seat covers, the foam deteriorates, the leather shifts, and the wrinkly bum is inevitable.Pat Slade wrote:Hi,

If you have an un-driven Z1 in your collection, dont let anyone sit on the seats, or better still remove the drivers side, wrap it up in cotton wool and stick a recaro in there.

True. I think the US has a law that allows 25 year old "classics" to be registered whatever they are.Jet wrote:Take it outside the EU?pingu wrote:What are the new owners hoping to do with these cars? My understanding is that they won't pass the emissions tests for a newly registered car in the EU.
I think they are limited to a few thousand miles per year.

No, the chassisnumber plate is damaged on the left upper side! Usually they don't "just" get damagedJet wrote:The rivets?
Re: Blue Z1 - Auction.
Damaged? I thought that was just paint missing. Probably a reasonable explanation, the garage would have spotted that and know the number is also stamped into the chassis next to the ECU.KevinZ1 wrote:KevinZ1 wrote:Further and more important, did anybody noticed what's wrong with the chassisnumber plate? No, the chassisnumber plate is damaged on the left upper side! Re: Blue Z1 - Auction.
I had my car valued through the Club (by Youknowwho) when I renewed the insurance last year. given the apparent increase in Z1 values over the past year, should I get the car valued again?

Chris, how does the valutaion compare to what's found at http://apps.hagerty.com/ukvaluation/ind ... Backlink=1
