I'm not aware of any significance. Probably just whatever bmw had available at the time.

I believe you are correct.

Thanks for the information, but what feature of the car makes it a sport. I thought that M54 engines of a particular size were of equal output, and brakes gearing etc, were all alike. Sorry for my ignorance.
Thanks again

Wheels, seats and suspension. No difference in engine.

So the i doesn't denote a Sport and also note that it is Sport and not M Sport. Prices came down a little, as I paid around 23k for my 1.9 a couple of years before the 2.2 came out.

I forgot about the LSD - must've been dreaming. No glowing knob listed though. Lol

Some of the options prices were a bargain!
I paid more than that for metallic paint and cruise control on my Volvo V70 purchased new in 1999. It does have air con and wood trim as standard though and as for powered hood it doesn't even have a sunroof!
I'll have to think about changing it in a couple of years as the salesman who took my money promised I'd get 20 years out of it!
As for the Z it is 9 months younger, has twice as many miles on the clock, and has considerably more rust underneath but then I have only had it 7 years....
