My Mora Red Zed
My Mora Red Zed
Thought I'd post some pictures of my Mora Red zed. She's a year 2000 2.0 with 63K on the clock.
So far I've added some Calibre Vintage Wheels, fixed the headlight switch and restored the headlights. She also has a matching hard top.

Snap, same year, colour and engine size.
I love them too. Not many of them around. Mine's ex UK and likely the only one in New Zealand.
Always interested in finding out how many Mora Red Z'3

Re: My Mora Red Zed
I have one so that's at least three. The millenium year appears to be when BMW produced most of the Mora's unless someone knows different.
It's a bit difficult to tell the colour of mine at present as it's covered in dust created by our builder and I really must replace the rusty rear wing and de-corrode the wing mirrors which was meant to be last winter's project that I never got around to!

Thanks guys.
Yes they are really rare here too, don't think there are many Mora Editions. Would love it in Australia though!

Re: My Mora Red Zed
I went to see one in Swansea earlier in the year. It's a very, very pretty car inside and out.
This particular one had a few too many small parking knocks and scuffs adding up to it needing a lot of remedial work. But it would have been very worthwhile as it was otherwise a lovely solid car.

2001 Z3 2.2 Topaz Blue (Trudy) - Keeper rebuilt from a write-off
2002 Z3 2.2 Titan Silver (Cookies) - Keeper rebuilt having been bought with a seized engine
2002 Z3 3.0 Sapphire Black (Peanut) - Keeper awaiting rebuilding having been bought as an abandoned project
Plus Willy, Kodak & Maycee - All 2.2 Sport projects. Yes, 6 is a lot of Z3s
Always happy to try and help with spares
Re: My Mora Red Zed
That's the one I bought Mr Scalex !
I was happy enough to buy as it was all cosmetic with no rust, I spent about £500 getting her perfect. She's such an honest solid little car.

Re: My Mora Red Zed
Fancy that! My budget was £3.5k with remedial work estimated close to £1,000 which is why I didn't bid. But I am a tight git - especially as it came with a hard top! Also that was before I got the bodyshop specialists lined up I have now who generally do things for about 50% of the main shops. So £500 sounds about right! So I think you have a great deal for your total outlay.ajones13 wrote:That's the one I bought Mr Scalex !

I seem to remember there was also a fault with one of the door mechanisms and a couple of screw holes in a door card? Or am I imagining that?
Anyway, so little to do compared with most Z3s.
I've looked at loads of Z3s before and after and that's the only one I felt I may have let get away. Well that and the Pistachio Green 3.0 for £5k recently.
I'm not complaining though as I took a chance with the 2.2 I rebuilt from a write-off not having a clue how it drove but buoyed by the 61k mileage and internal condition. I've been very lucky and it drives like a dream. Just needs a little bit of minor fettling still.

Re: My Mora Red Zed
There was a fault with the handle needing slightly lifted up and a bit of pressure applied to open the door. A quick stop at the services on the way home and £2.99 for some WD40 sprayed into the door lock mechanism fixed that issue and has been fine ever since, pretty common e36 door handle problem
For the door card I sourced a black one at a local breakers for £20 and swapped over the leather. Was a very easy fix. Nice little car to work on and make perfect!
Also changed cam position sensor as it wasn't pulling quite right. Knew straight away on test drive it needed one. Swapped out and it drives like an absolute dream.

Re: My Mora Red (Purple) Z3
Hi Guys. Just found this Forum, so I'm a newbie logging in to say hello.
Found this thread interesting, as I too have one of these rare beasts
Like all others, mine is the 2 litre straight 6, with ivory leather trimmed in '
mora', A/C, heated seats etc. First owner had it for 10yrs, me for last 6. Spent
its entire life living in a cosy garage unless the sun is shining! 39,000 on the
clock and looks / runs beautifully. (The colour is just gorgeous in the sun)
I have trawled the internet and been unable to find out much about these
Limited Edition Z3s. The car was originally purchased from Trainers in Swansea
for £25,950 in April 2000. The previous owner believed that 80 of these r.h.d. ones
were imports into the UK, but I have not been able to verify this. A trip back to
Trainers BMW last year brought out some admiring comments, but there was
no one there from the year 2000, and on one knew any history....
Currently looking for a Z4 to replace the family Astra now kids are long gone,
before grandchildren start needing lifts !! Prob a 28i, pref blue with beige leather...
Will keep a watching brief should anyone find out more about the Mora model...
Cheers. Andy

Re: My Mora Red Zed
My Mora Z3 came out from the UK to New Zealand in 2005. Now has 101,000 miles on her. She was a bit of an abused car when I got her out of Auckland in January this year. Over the winter I fitted shocks/struts, control arms, suspension bushings, tie rods, new clutch, VANOS seals and fixed a multitude of other problems and worn out parts. She's now a sweet ride all ready for summer. Body work is a little rough with a lifetime worth of scratches and small dings etc from big city living, but that will have to wait.
I'm interested in sharing the VIN number of my car with other Mora owners and in return receive their Vin numbers. It would be interesting to get a list together.

Re: My Mora Red Zed
Hi 4Wheels
I used the AutoGlym headlight restoration kit. I got mine in Halfords. Seemed to include more pads than the Meguires equivalent.
Thanks

Selling a Mora Z3 -How does one price it ?
Thought please from the experts, accepting the known "...its worth what you can get for it..."
.
Due to the arrival of my new toy (a beautiful S Drive 28i Z4 in deep sea metallic with ivory leather), my cherished Z3 Mora Edition with very low mileage (39,860) has got to go (...says the wife....).
Its a two owner car from new, always garaged with full set of MOTs and reasonable service history. One of only 80 ‘Mora Metallic’ special edition Z3s imported into the UK in 2000 according to the original owner. Features colour trimmed leather seats and mats, Air conditioning, heated/ electric seats, heated/electric mirrors, tonneau cover, Sony Bluetooth CD/radio. Everything is in good working order, with no rust and only a few very minor scratches. Super smooth ‘straight 6’ BMW engine – car drives ‘like new’ still.
Questions though.... With Z3s available from a grand to over £10K on AutoTrader for example, how on earth does one come up with a sensible selling price? (Perhaps seems a little naïve, but have only ever bought one car privately - this one... and never sold one!). Only Mora Edition I can see for sale currently anywhere sounds rather over-priced, probably as its on the forecourt at Sytner BMW, Coventry, at £8.500 !
Would £4,900 sound a more reasonable opening gambit for negotiating at sale time? Is AutoTrader a sensible place to start advertising rather than EBay ?
Any advice much appreciated. Many thanks. Andy

Re: My Mora Red Zed
Many thanks for sharing your expertise and advice NZ00Z3.
I float an advert out ASAP on the forum, and then look to advertise locally and on AdTrader also.
Would appreciate any help you might be able to offer is spreading this around any other Z3 forum boards you may be involved in too if possible?
Best wishes. Andy
