Rain water collecting in the fuel filler flap
Rain water collecting in the fuel filler flap
Hi,
I've noticed that rain water is collecting within the fuel filler, somehow getting into the flap and making a nice little pool under the filler cap. Is this common, or is there meant to be a seal around the inside of the flap? Mine obviously has a gap around it and was wondering the best way to address this.
Thanks a lot.
Andy

No seal, but there is a drain hole in the bottom of the rubber boot which gets blocked. Just needs a gentle poke with something long and pointy and a good sluice through with some clean water. Think I used a wooden kebab skewer last time. We've probably all had this problem at some point or other.

Knowledgebase
Someone should place a detailed article with pictures in the Knowledgebase, but it's virtually impossible to do so these days.
I used to be the Knowledgebase Moderator, but somehow I got the sack a few months ago - don't know why . . .

I lost count, but the drain hole is still in the same place.Dave L2 wrote:How many times have you answered this question now Rob?
Mike, I suspect that it is more to do with the level of admin rights you would need to move posts into a restricted forum than anything to do with your moderating skills. A sticky with the submission process wouldn't go amiss (Mods - pretty please).

Probably when your account went to Guest you lost your permissions.Mike Fishwick wrote:I used to be the Knowledgebase Moderator, but somehow I got the sack a few months ago - don't know why . . .
Use the Search button before posting newbie questions about hard tops and fitting kits, footwell speaker amps, water in the boot, hood maintainance and those horrific angel eyes. We get like 10 threads a week on the same subject, it's obvious that you haven't searched.
My tiny hole
Just had same problem, the hole is tiny and gets blocked so easy. I gave it a blast with the hose and watched as it drained onto the sill and also under the car.
