. Netiquette on zroadster.net . |
| . |
. The zroadster.net message boards were established to encourage interaction between Z roadster owners/enthusiasts and to provide advice and assistance to the Z roadster community. This is intended to be an enriching experience in which open participation is encouraged. There have been a number of instances of electronic warfare on the message boards with violently opposed views being posted. This doesn't create a good impression to visitors and is likely to discourage new owners from becoming involved in discussions. So whilst there is no wish to limit people's freedom to make sometimes-contentious postings, it seems sensible to provide guidance as to expected 'netiquette' on the site. Postings All postings: Some people do not include their email address or real name when posting to the message board which raises doubt about the actual poster. Unless your alias/handle is well-known, please either include your email address or post under your real name. Alias/handle: Do NOT post messages under an alias or handle that someone else is already using. At best this causes confusion, at worse it can only be considered a deliberate attempt to impersonate. Flamebait: Please don't deliberately set out to annoy other partipants with inflamatory or disparaging remarks that are intended to start a flame war. Sex/Race: In particular, do not post messages that could be construed as being of a derogatory sexual or racial nature. For sale postings: If you are privately selling your Z roadster or any accessories, you are welcome to make a posting on the main or classified boards announcing the fact so long the contact details include your first and last name, plus a non-mobile telephone number and email address. If the message only mentions a fax number or mobile phone, it will be assumed it is a disguised trade posting and will be removed by the webmaster. Trade postings: The zroadster.net web site offers sponsorship opportunities which include links to the sponsor's website or pages hosted by zroadster.net If you make what is considered to be a trade posting, it will be removed by the webmaster who will refer you to this page. Postings by sponsors: Sponsorship does not give a right to 'spam' the board. There should be no objection to the occasional informal posting about some really important news, but please be beware of people's sensitivities. Rather than make a long salesy posting, just mention the relevant info and point people to a page on your website. Responses Flamebait: Please don't rise to the bait. It justs wastes bandwidth and lowers the overall value of the board. Either ignore it--there can't be a flame war unless someone responds--or request the webmaster remove the posting. Trade postings, spam etc: If you object to what you perceive is a trade posting on the board, rather than following it up with an abusive posting, please direct your comments offline to the person's email address, with a copy to the webmaster so he is aware of the issue.
