Part 3: an Austrian cruise with German and Swiss Zetties
The hardest part of constructing this page was choosing which of the 51 photographs to use, and then deciding how to crop them to show the scenary off to its best.

Sunday was a brilliantly sunny day and we headed off from Lindau in Germany over the border into the Austrian Alps. I can't tell you where we went other than there were lots of hills!

Frank had no difficulty keeping up in his 1.8

    Plenty of bike riders

    Quick check behind

Need to practice with focus control

    Threading through other riders

Our lunch stop. Wiener Schnitzel (we were in Austria!)

Another view of the lunch stop

Time to hit the road again

    Avalanche protection fences

    Entering a snow tunnel

Every time we went through one of these, Tadzio let the M roadster exhaust rip!

    Weehay!

I thought we were driving on the right?

We crossed over into Switzerland and went for a drink before parting.

It was then 6pm and the odometer stood at 900 miles. I had a long way to go that evening, so travelled west across the width of Switzerland, crossed into France near Geneva, and arrived at Grenoble about midnight with 1,270 miles on the clock.

The next day the petrol blockades were lifted and shortly afterwards supplies started to become available. I worked in Grenoble until Wednesday afternoon, returning to the UK on an overnight drive, and finishing the trip with just over 2,000 miles recorded. By that time the revolt over fuel prices had spread to the UK but at least I managed to arrive back in England with a full fuel tank!
