Concept
The plan was simple. Take advantage of P&O's pre-April rates
to do a one-day cruise of the Normandy D-Day beaches. The
outgoing crossing was the Friday overnight Portsmouth to
Cherbourg ferry whilst coming home we travelled on Saturday's
overnight Le Havre to Portsmouth ferry.
Considering the trip included en-suite cabins both ways, the
ferry cost of just over £100 return was a real steal!

We landed at Cherbourg [2] and our first stop was the La Fiere
bridge [4], the west-most objective of the American airborne
troops. Close by was the Airborne Museum at Ste Mere-Eglise
[5].
