The Paris autoshow in September-October 2002 was the world launch of the new Z4. Having put down a deposit more than a year ago to secure one of the first Z4s to be delivered to the UK I had more than a passing interest in the beast.

And what better way to travel to the show than in Zmurf, my Laguna Seca Blue 2001 M roadster?

Dawn was breaking over Dover as I arrived for the high-speed catamaran ferry to Calais

I'm not saying which country these next shots were in!
The photos are out-of-order, but the top one shows Zmurf nearing its limit in 4th gear

Then hitting the rev limiter

I didn't get a chance to safely test the top speed electronic limiter as I kept running out of clear roads in 5th
