Santa's Sleigh Ride II

  • Part 1 (below): Saturday

  • Part 2: Saturday night fever

  • Part 3: Sunday

The second annual Santa's Sleigh Ride weekend event organised by Jason and Becky was memorable. Read on for the meaning of quotes such as 'I thought I had let enough of you out', 'Thanks for the mammeries' and 'Mandy's no stick-in-the-mud'.

The turnout was excellent, with a total twenty participants driving mainly Z roadsters, but also including Jason's MGB roadster for the first day and Mark's Lotus Elsie on the second. Six cars started on the Saturday morning from the National Agriculture Centre at Stoneleigh Park 'twixt Warwick and Coventry.

    (left to right) David (King of Chrome)/Pn's Titan 2.0, Keith's Black 2.8, Stu/Sylvie's Arctic 2.8, Tom/Di's Bright Red 2.8, Tim's Topazine 2.8 and Jason/Becky's MGB.

The ruins of Kenilworth Castle (destroyed by parliamentary troops after the Civil War) were just a short distance away, and more importantly were close to a ford where we could have some splashing fun.

After high-speed pursuits down muddy country lanes and a cruise round Stratford-upon-Avon we stopped for a while in Warwick, where Jason and Becky toured Warwick castle while the cultural philistines (the rest of us) went shopping. On the return, a kindly gentleman gave way to the first car, the second car, the third car, and then rammed David/Pn's. His explanation to a 'slightly upset' David was, "Well I though I had let enough of you out."

Roy (about to take delivery of Siena Red 3.0i) and friend were in the hotel when we returned as was Mandy (Black 2.8 auto).

Seeing as Roy would be travelling with Mandy in the morning, Tim added some decorations whilst Mandy was getting changed.
