Santa's Sleigh Ride II

  • Part 1: Saturday crusing

  • Part 2: Saturday night fever

  • Part 3 (below): Sunday crusing

Mark and Linda joined us in the yellow Lotus Elsie on Sunday morning. As the day progressed and softtops went up and down according to the weather we quickly appreciated why the Elsie's softtop is called 'the hood from hell.'

Tim had Roy as passenger Sunday morning and was showing Roy various driving techniques. David Miles swears he saw them doing a 180-degree circle whilst navigating a roundabout--even ASC can't alter the laws of physics!

Despite the dark skies, we were blessed with top-down weather most of the time

The first stop for the behorned 'rasta' crew was Fawsley Hall, a Tudor/Georgian manor house more
accustomed to receiving up-market guests attending Silverstone racing circuit.

    Jason's Z8-style wheels on his new 3.0i

Mandy and John/Julie (Black 2.8) join the cruise.

Our next stop was Sulgrave Manor, the Tudor manor house that was home to the ancestors of George Washington.

The Great Hall of the Manor was splendidly bedecked with seasonal greenery, with the log fire burning and beeswax candles glowing. We were treated to a history of wassailing and other yuletide traditions (plus samples).

And an explanation of what went on in the kitchens

We next visited the 'lost vineyard of Hellidon', for a personal guided tour and sampling.

Before heading to the Butchers Arms for a late Sunday lunch. After that it was 'goodbyes' and thanks to Jason and Becky for all their hard work in organising the weekend.
